So if Gruden does indeed come to UT. I have some concerns.

1. Can he adapt to the college game?
2. He's been out coaching since 2009, has the game passed him by?
3. Does he fully understand the efforts needed to be successful in CFB and win at the level of Nick Saban. It will require 80 -100 hours of week of work during the season.
4. Can he beat Georgia, Florida, Alabama and the rest of the SEC on a regular basis?
5. Is he willing to deal with an overly zealous and rabid fan base that often have unrealistic expectations?

All of the above are unknown. but we do know that the recruits will flock to him and I am certain he will bring an all-star staff.

BabyVol:

I had to officially join the party before this weekend. Just been laying low and sharing intel with @ChattaVol06, @Hutch 7, and a few others. Didn’t want to miss out on some excitement soon

I was on gridscape for years. @Hutch 7 can confirm.

I’ll say this...... MITbeav is not who was outed but he is very connected.... we message daily.
I never said we would get DJ Humphries but I have missed on a few who changed their minds last minute. Trust the process guys....we are way closer than in 2012.

If you guys only knew how close it was last time....that’s the only thing that has me concerned this time. It’s why I won’t be quite so over the top. If it happens I will explain exactly what went down best I can. It’s been so interesting this time!!!

I will once it’s over....but trust me there is a process to the madness. There have been things in the works for close to 5 years now

I won’t go so far as to say a 5 year timeline but the overall story dates back to 5 years ago when certain boosters got blindsided. That started a plan to make sure it didn’t happen again. Quite a bit of time, money, and resources have went in to making sure we get our guy this go round. I don’t pretend I’ll ever know everything that has led up to our next coach getting hired.....but I know enough to trust the process

is the Chosen One in Knoxville this weekend?
He is within a short drive to Neyland Stadium.

Timeline for announcement?
Let’s get thru today and then I’ll answer
Fair enough.

Hopefully it doesn't depend on the outcome of the game?
Has absolutely nothing to do with the game

I, too, am a former Gridscape alum! I miss those days when things were simpler, and the Vols were a force in football! Had anybody heard from Chuck? Did you ever get a Christmascard from him?
Anyway, what would keep us from getting Gruden at this point? Is the ball totally in his court, or are there more obstacles?

Now this is an opinion that I completely agree with. I have zero doubts that he’d lure recruits, and firmly believe he’d have great assistants if he ever came here.

I think you’re being sarcastic. At least I hope you are

Honestly I hope if we do land gruden the fan base has realistic expectations. He’s not gonna come in and win a national championship his first year or for sure make the sec championship game right away. I think he can get us heading in that direction to get there sooner than anyone else though

What if we are losing at half? Do we fire cbj right there and have gruden just jump on board

Imagine this scenario:
Neyland Public Address Announcer Jeff Jarnigan:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I have an important announcement form the university Athletics Department. Coach Butch Jones has been relieved of his duties and will not be coaching the second half. Coaching the second half and the remainder of the 2017 regular season games will be Hall of Farmer and former Vols Coach Phillip Fulmer.
Also, ladies and gentlemen, if I could direct your attention to the Jumbotron, our friends at ESPN will have the honor of a very important announcement about the 2018 season”.
(Roll Gruden highlites - Mike Tirico wishes CJG well in his soon to be new position in Knoxville).

Soon.

After listening to Gruden over that last few weeks...he wants to get back to the grind.

ESPN is kicking him out the door and he wants to prove to himself and his legacy that he can coach CFB...and beat Saban!!!

Hey, when your back up gig is the head coach at a power SEC school like Tennessee...life’s pretty good :)

Morning GV! Sound like you're in a great mood! Did you see the beav last night or something haha?

Actually, this is like my Friday. First day off in 15 days will be tomorrow.

No updates today though. Bedlam is going to be...bedlam.

I posted this earlier, but it was the middle of the night and it does line up:

This is from another forum and there is no insider info claimed:

Also this, again from another forum:

It is my belief that everyone is now on the same page and the ball is in Gruden's court. If 8 is the number, then his annual salary will be higher than Saban's. He may have already accepted or turned it down, but the sudden silence from all sources certainly means something.

If 8 is the #, it will be higher than all but two NFL coaches.
