I'm fully in the Gruden camp for several reasons, the main one being a Tennessee connection. As tenuous as it is, he at least has some history to knowing who we are, what we were, and what we are supposed to be. He has family that is invested in this University. We have gotten away from that connection, and no longer know who we are. That's important to me. Add in his experience, and his name and you have an instant shot in the arm to a failing program.

There are others, who I am sure would be wildly successful here....those are the ones on my personal list. But JG, to me, is the only one that checks off the intangible boxes that will help bring back the greatness we have previously enjoyed.

We will likely have other opportunities in the future to infuse some Orange blood back into the program...but he seems to be the only one suited for today.

Well said Boro! I feel the same way! Also good luck to your son! Hope he balls out!

If Butch being gone is a certainty, surely Davis would be aware of that and would wait things out. Suggests Butch being gone isn't so much a done deal and potential of him being out after Bama or UK not really on the table.
Maybe it's not ALL about just Butch but also how it looks for the AD

It’s beautiful here. I actually prefer it over living in the Keys. But you’re right about Tennessee.....I feel blessed to have been born and raised in our great state of Tennessee. Nothing like it!

I spent my childhood in Montgomery. It's pretty boring there, but parts of the state are gorgeous. Minus the ignornant Bama fans, it is a great place to live and raise a family. We live in VA now, but I tell my husband all the time how much I'd love to go back to Knoxville. Even he admitted its a beautiful city. Maybe one day.

Tuscaloosa, however, is pretty depressing. At least Birmingham is close.

Has anyone heard anything about Fulmer meeting with Zook yesterday? Remember, Zook was rumored to be on Gruden's staff in 2012, and was here when Gruden was. TIFWIW

This is a family sight. Please defer from twittering your Beaver here.

Haha. That's kind of ironic. I'm from Huntland and now live in Merdianville. There is a wide gap in intelligence for Alabama fans. I've gotten used to it. The hardest thing was getting the kids to be Vol fans, when the wife's family is bama fans. I threw away several "gifts', at family get togethers.

Took the kids out for Halloween, my daughter runs up to a house and screams. I ask her what's wrong, "Dad...they like Alabama". :)

Similar story. I was walking with my son and he skipped a house. I asked him why he didn't go to that one. His response...."They're Bama fans, so they probably have bad candy". Proud moment

The only beautiful things in AL are the roads that lead to TN!

Not necessarily.

If you've ever worked for a boss you hated, but stayed with your employer because you were convinced their behavior would get them fired eventually.... At some point, even when the signs are clear its eminent, you're so blind with frustration, you just give up that it's ever going to change and quit...

People often hang on way too long because they don't want to be the one that quits, only to have the change occur right after they leave. But sometimes you have to quit because you're tired of waiting. And sometimes you have to quit, because the change won't occur if you don't.

has anyone ever thought that Beaver and his crew might of cranked up the heat some? Could they have been the one who was the source to Hyams?

Could Antone quiting be the final nail in the coffin that gives currie reason to fire Butch? Planned by Antone and currie. However, i have no reason to doubt Antone's allegations though.

I wish someone would paint the rock with Currie standing next to a Pilot Dumpster Fire, with a caption of fire Currie. How do we end up with 2 egos in Currie and Haslam screwing this up a second time?

38 Days: How Alabama Pulled off the Great Heist of Nick Saban

This is a pretty good read, and shows that even Moore had problems getting Saban there, even publicly had problems.

I'm not saying Currie is doing the same thing, but it seems to me that he is somewhat trying to take the Moore approach after reading it and looking at what all Currie has/hasn't done so far

That’s awesome info right there pal! Thanks for sharing. As it relates to UT, and I seriously doubt it could ever happen....but given his sincere fondness for all things Tennessee, maybe it’s time to bring Peyton home as AD. I realize I’m inviting flames, but that would truly be a monumental step IMO. And if not Peyton, then Peyton’s coach. Flame away.

There should be two words painted on the rock:

Gruden......soon

Last Friday was college shirt day at my daughters' elementary school. I asked what shirt they wanted to wear and laid out the Bama shirt and the smokey shirt. Both kids picked smokey. My youngest even said orange was her favorite color. My husband was crushed. Ha!
