Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVII

I am still confused why MIT_Beaver was tweeting Currie last night. He's claimed for over a week that the Gruden deal was done and was a sure thing. If that was the case, then why did he even need to tweet Currie at all, especially those types of tweets.

Maybe he had too much Scotch?

I believe he said it was a deal no one could refuse and Gruden was on board. I took that to mean it was locked and loaded pending approval. What sane person would deny Gruden and funding for the university? No one.

I think beav tweeted that to show Currie we know and show us he's fighting to make it happen.

Here's a weird/interesting/maybe related and maybe not tidbit...

A chattanooga attorney bought 4 tickets to tomorrow's game from someone my husband works with. For above face value. And supposedly he was buying "tons" of them.

Did you ever find tickets for yourself?

The only people who see those tweets are his followers. Even if you @someone, when your tweets are protected, they don't see them unless they're a follower.

Qualifier - I don't pretend to know any UT Football boosters or have any firsthand knowledge (now or ever) of how things work in the UT AD.

However, what I do know is that every entity that has ever had a fundraising arm eventually will draw the line on booster bullying and tell them to take their money elsewhere. Doesn't matter whether that is $10,000 or $1Billion. If every gift given comes with strings attached or expectations of influence, eventually the booster is told "thanks, but not under those conditions".

To believe some of the stories on this board about the Haslam family, one has to first accept that every UT President since Boling; every UT-K Chancellor since Reese; every Governor of Tennessee since Blanton - are willing to accept this kind of bullying from one family. I would contend you have greater odds of finding ice on the bright side of the sun, than that being reality.

The stories told on here are good ones. But more fiction than fact - at least I hope so. If not, we have far bigger problems than who our next HC will be.

Money controls EVERYTHING.

Believe it.

I direct you to my previous post about TX and brisket.

Anyway, all this talk about food is making me hungry. We still have a few hours before lunchtime arrives.

Let's get our Grude-on!

Fair enough. Just saying cant forget brisket or some tasty burnt-ends. Some of the folks might not ever had burnt-ends.

I don’t understand how Penn State football can go through so many terrible things and now be back winning, but it takes us decades to still not be competitive? And I don’t remember, but how long did Alabama let their program slide before hiring Saban? Are we just unlucky?

To keep people from being in the stadium?

C'mon guys, share.
Help those who are hanging by a thread.

I listened to his show this morning and I don't know why others think he "knows" something. Sure didn't sound like it to me. JMO
