Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVII

I want Butch gone as much as anyone. But I don’t think he knowingly neglected Kendrick. I don’t think he’s heartless. Incompetent yes, heartless no.

Gross incompetence wouldn't necessarily exonerate him. I've stayed out of this one due to having unverifiable specifics about who knew what, how much did they know and when did they know it. It is clear, however, that someone screwed the pooch.

I agree it wasn't purposeful but I also know that if I had a son in this exact situation, I would be screaming for answers.

No doubt at all. I’d probably walked in and throat punched Butch then roundhoused Currie just because.

Good morning everyone... make today awesome. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park further away and enjoy the walk. Complain less about things you can’t control and be grateful for the blessings in your life. We’ve all got one shot at life so let’s make it count. The 2 most important days in life-the day you were born and the day you realize why. Here’s to the return of TN football!

Good call. I lose cell service in the elevator, hence I can't keep up with the Gruden threads.

You're a smart one.

In fairness to Hyams, Gruden did not come up during his appearance on 104.5 the zone. He said he does not think Butch will survive and he said he's heard a lot more support for Butch on his radio show this week than in other recent weeks.

Someone yesterday brought up the scenario from A Few Good Men. "Code Red" was an absolutely unwritten practice, enforced with an almost unspoken shared understanding between the officers, in violation of the strict written policy.

UT football has a specific policy in place regarding how to deal with potential player concussions. I'm not sure that putting the responsibility for diagnosis on the players themselves, and then encouraging that with the "warrior" mentality of always being "ready to go" is going to be a good thing legally for the University.

I think he'd do anything humanly possible to preserve the persona he's worked so hard to build....not his job, but the narrative he wants to portray. It's really all he's got, his most valuable commodity to sell, and it's now taking hit after hit. I believe he didn't want to be here for the KY game....he knew it would be a loss. Losing to KY as the HFCAUTK pretty much cements your legacy. If he thought having Kendrick out there missing a limb would help him win, he would have done it.

This truth in my mind lend to him coaching through rest of the season.... time to get past this

Here ya go

Hey @John_Currie, do you think Haslam is going to balance the blown AD budget after you take his advice and hire another JV coach?

Hey @John_Currie, how much revenue do you lose if #EmptyNeyland takes off? Should only cost $50k in ads to push the fan base over the edge.

The #emptyneyland movement that you fear so much won’t be just for one game, it will go on for seasons @John_Currie.

Have you talked to any boosters recently that would gladly pay $50k to prevent you from hiring another bum coach? @John_Currie

The planning is done and the battle begins soon.

So is currie following the beaver? He won't see the tweets unless he is per twitter faq:

I know what it's like to sit in the stands and watch your kid compete. I never take my eyes off of him. If that had been my kid stumbling around, lining up wrong, and holding the sides of his helmet, it would have taken Trooper Squarejaw and several of his buddies to keep me from coming at Butch Jones like a spider-monkey on the sideline.

Video's of BK playing looking like he has a concussion are all over social media. There has to be something more going on with this. If he played, and staff is at fault, there is no way CBJ is coaching Saturday IMO.

I’m kind of shocked, CBJ hasn’t been suspended pending further review. If it turns out to be more, and the administration didn't do its due diligence...oh man.

Ok maybe, I’m not really shocked.

As a reminder: Jack's character ordered the code red specifically be carried out on the soldier

Swain.... "John Currie has a long term hire plan... I am happy today because there are some great coaches interested in this job... There is some information that I have been exposed to that makes me happy"

I keep looking for the one thing that brings it all together....like why send Beaver in here, why Bubba, why HerefortheGrumors.... why the slow play of all this... Why not just bite the bullet and get it done.

My conclusion... this is NOT a done deal and Haslam and Currie both are obstacles.... Taking Beaver at his word.. and his tweets.. He certainly does NOT believe Currie wants to hire Gruden

I have no doubt that they are the obstacles.

Just like 2012.
We had posters popping in and out with nuggets then as well. No idea what the end game is in that. One would guess some type of fan support.

Haslam is the obstacle, and he brought Currie in. They are obviously trying to find a coach other than Gruden. Just like last time with Hart, hence the rumors yesterday.

My best guess is that in the meetings held last night, and possibly through the game tomorrow, Haslam is being made aware of the other sides position.
Apparently the rest of the boosters are backing Ergen, and he has the academic side locked up, as well as fan support.
I don't think we truly know anything until after the game tomorrow.
