After the Haslam stuff from MIT, I no longer think he's being truthful. Haslam was okay with the JG hire in 2012, even giving his resources to try and make it happen. Haslam and JG are actually friends. Peyton and Haslam are friends. Haslam has spent literally 9 figures at UT. Played for Neyland and wants the best for UT football. It makes absolutely 0 sense that he'd oppose this.
I want Gruden and he's my top choice by far, but this reeks of JG having said thanks but no thanks to coaching here several weeks ago and someone using it to drive ill feelings towards the Haslam family.
The Gruden thread is like that long weekend hiking trip...
You start off expecting to arrive in cannan to some zen experience.
Then 10 miles in with a blown out sole on your boot, second degree sunburn, 4009 mosquito bites, scuffed knees and realizing you left your tent poles, you just want it over.
