A couple of people are picking up on it here, but still getting somewhat buried, the Stadium Reno approval is big, IMO.

If you have committed to that kind of investment, you’re not going to roll out some google the name coach next year.

And the timing is starting to make a lot more sense, if they have committed to $340 million or whatever it is, Currie and other have a lot more leverage to get buyout done, and go get a big name.

Don’t get caught up in th booster infighting, follow the money.

Gruden to The Hill.

SOON!
I agree. I believe this hire will be a big splash, the question is how big? Is it big enough to rock the CFB world and recruiting or is is just they got a good coach big...stay tuned

I think it's always good to have a degree of skepticism. I am skeptical too. If I wasn't I would be at 100% instead of 50%. But I also think 100% done has different meanings to different people. I think he was convinced there was no way that UT could turn the deal down. Probably addressed all the hangups from the last go around. But, I think it's impossible to predict with 100% accuracy when there is all these moving parts. Deals like this are not easy. They require a lot of people to get on the same page, a lot of back and forth. A lot of "we can't do that but how about this?". THat's why I think there is a 50% this happens, because it's extremely difficult to put all the pieces together and all the compromises to work.

Two things give me hope:

1. Peyton Manning. I've said all along that he is the key. He's the one that can put everyone on the same page. Can he put this extremely complicated puzzle together.

2. I think this deal has been in the works for years. I think everyone knew this was a stopgap measure. I our university's finances were not where they are today and as Jon Gruden said a couple of years ago " The timing just wasn't quite right". I think the people that have been working to put this together over the last several years are not going to go quietly into the night. Too much work has been put in to make this happen. Is the timing right this time?

I believe Peyton already has the sum***** put together. He's been a part of this for quite some time and has been a very important steward of ensuring its progress (I would put Fulmer in this camp, too).

My uncle said he read/heard Spurrier comment on calling Stoops about coming to FL and him not returning his call. Can't remember who posted, but they mentioned that whoever Atlanta Vol called would be someone that FL was very interested in?

I'd say k elly. If I'm guessing.

My reaction: every single thing Beaver has said here or anywhere else had been planned 10 steps ahead, why should we believe his twitter actions right now are any different...?

It's the artillery barrage before the invasion. At least I hope so.

I have to be honest... and I want to believe, but I think MIT is full of ish.

Just have to say, would a multimillionaire with so much influence really give a **** about message boarding and twittering? Seems like it’s sophmoric.

Go read something on the internet about the power of social media. As soon as your done eating dinner at Lubys.

If Beavers tweets are meant to influence the outcome, then why wouldnt his account be public? He only has about 250 followers and those are hand selected.

Put it this way. I'm one of them and I'm a nobody lol....

Honestly, it's hard for me to believe Haslam doesn't want Gruden to coach the Vols because he'd lose control. Lose control of what exactly?

Give Gruden full reigns to hire his staff (which Haslam has very little say in), give Gruden power to influence schedule, which a lot of top tier coaches do, badically give him control of the football program.

What exactly is it that you guys think Haslam does? I swear I think some of you believe he literally goes out and flies city to city interviewing head coaches left and right, dictating who we're going to play every year, and stuff like that. In reality, there are people in place to do all of these things and they run it by him at the end while talking to him through the process. And he 'signs' off on it.

There isn't really any control to be lost by Haslam if Gruden becomes the coach.

As for Currie, I don't buy it either. He'd lose some control over football but he'd still be Grudens boss and have the ability to fire him if ever needed. But hiring him would men's trusting him to a higher extent than some other coaches. In exhange for Currie becoming a legend and having unbelievable job security for hiring Gruden.

What's far more likely? That people just want someone to blame if things go South, and are going to pin it on Haslam and Currie. Or if things have already gone south, they've began blaming it on them.

Also, the Haslam's have on multiple occasions expressed the willingness to sell Gruden Bill's home if he becomes the coach at Tennessee. You don't do that if you're trying to derail him being hired.

Don't believe everything on the internet before using some logic first.
