Little early to give credit to the new florida AD

True and Foley did not exactly kill it with his football hires except for Meyer. Zook, Muschamp and Mac were 3 out of the last 4. He did kill it with Meyer but someone had a prior connection to him at Utah and it was not Foley. I can't remember who it was.

I'm not suggesting he doesn't have most of the power. He does. My point is that ultimately Hamilton chose Kiffin and Dooley and Hart chose Butch. Haslam approved, which may be an issue I guess, but he's no worse than the majority of major money guys around the country.

Yea, I agree with this point. No one in the Haslam family handpicked Derek Dooley or Butch Jones. Hart just couldn't seal the deal with a better coach.

The Haslam's may be influencing a decision to hire Gruden, but they aren't suggesting that a certain coach be hired.

I believe so. Not as if it wasn't already, but if Florida does hire Frost it's going to make this hire that much more critical for us. If we hire a Bobo type, get ready for another decade long losing streak to the gators.

Is it a decade or is it 15 years? You have said both. I will go on record as saying if it is Bobo, I will be monumentally disappointed, but I won't make long range predictions because I flat out suck at those.

Big Jim does have de facto absolute veto power. I couldn't tell you how often he uses it, though.

Haslam did push Currie through the hiring for AD though and it was said that many did not agree.

It was also stated that Davenport wanted a sitting AD at a power 5 school. Everyone wanted someone who understood UT athletics. Currie fit that criteria.

Not really sure what to think.

True. All the info goes in different directions.

You don’t gather funds from the heavy hitters unless you have a fish on the line. That post basically eliminates Gruden to me.

My guess Dan Mullen will be roaming our sideline.

This might actually help the other big boosters. They can come in and say listen you weren't my choice for AD, but if you make a good hire consider my donations safe. If not, well you're going to have to start worrying about the budget again.

Queue Bass and Chief...

Nah, I don't believe any of the "insiders". We don't have any insiders. Nobody knows anything. The only thing that we know for certain is that Butch is still the head coach of our beloved Vols and Currie hasn't done a thing about it.

Just curious, why does that eliminate Gruden?
I’m perfectly fine with Mullen, think he would do well here.
