I got a blockbuster gift card. has about $8.65 left on it. I'll go ahead and throw that into the pot with my BOGO coupon for paper towels at Eckards

Cheapskate. If you hadn't spent all your money on that gal at the GA Tech game you could contribute more.

Sorry to everyone for not being around much but there has been A LOT going on. This week has been an utter **** show....on so many levels.

Their has been hesitation internally to let butch go early due to the reputation that UT has gotten in that regard externally to the coaching community...however I think the hand may get forced on this one. And when I mean let go I mean publically let go....lets not mix that up. He is gone no doubt about that but the timing thing is really playing havoc on this whole process make no mistake about that.

I was delivered either an incredible smokescreen yesterday or something that tells me there is trouble in paradise on the gruden front (lets say it went along the lines of currie reached out to xyz coach to gauge interest what are your thoughts... I won't name the coach as I don't want to throw gas on that log) . I can't tell which yet but I have been on the phone all morning with one of the larger boosters (in ktown) discussing our wonderful browns owner who literally could screw up anything he gets involved in so that tells me all I need to know on that front. Now take all of that and couple it with the next important piece of info.

I was then informed early today of a meeting that will take place that I am supposed to attend (can't give timeline out) that will be about a very large donation opportunity for some folks in attendance. Now I can't imagine in my right mind that they would approach anyone about a meeting like that unless there was something extremely positive was going to happen.

I think the band is about the start playing...the biggest question will be is it who we want playing or not.

My take on this.

The hesitation on letting Butch go is from Currie with an assist by Fulmer. Maybe in response to something Sexton said in buyout negotiations.

The contacting coach thing could be for the reasons Atlanta Vol mentioned but could also be because Currie was directed to find another candidate. This could be in order to remove the fan base as a lever in negotiations, provide a more pliable alternative (i.e. a coach that requires less control and doesn't require as many concessions on the Academic side), and/or to split the united boosters. It seems to be a desperate move because, if it backfires, the one orchestrating the change will get a huge amount of blowback.

Given the feedback in the last section, I think most of the players have aligned on a COA that will be met with fan approval.

Just my $0.02.

Gosh missed the 10 part lol. I mean it’s an honest mistake considering there are only 10 teams in the Big 12 nowadays and 14 I the big 10 lol

Well, the Big Ten does have 12 teams and the Big XII has 10. So, I can understand the confusion. Kind of concerning that they offering math courses at those institutions....

Dan Wolken of USA Today isn't convinced Jon Gruden would make a good college coach. Read my blog: sportsradiownml.com/2017/11/02/jim……od-college-coach/

You're an attorney. You and I both know you'd name every deep pocket nearby and hope something sticks. You'll have a hard time proving that Jones is culpable in "should have noticed a particular player's condition on the sidelines, or on-field " when his job is to set procedures and manage the game while trusting his OC to see what is specifically happening in-play, and position coaches to manage personnel on the sidelines.

I reiterate. My position is that this isn't a slam-dunk case against Jones, as was asserted, and even though you did so with more confidence than I think you'd actually feel, you just affirmed it's not a slam dunk case against Jones.

It's not a slam dunk and I don't ever call cases that. Many a slip between the cup and lip. I will say that I have taken more difficult cases and been successful. All of these cases hinge on perception and character.

Your version of the head coach's duties and mine differ. He might not be calling plays but he's damn sure watching them and the OL gets lots of his attention. If his position is he didn't notice I would make him look incompetent. An expert would be hired, a former coach, to testify that it is damn near inconceivable that Butch didn't notice. It's not a slam dunk, but I am confident I could convince a jury and perhaps more important it provides me leverage.

The difficult aspect of this case is damages. In this case they are uncertain, but the university is going to have a tough time fighting you on this aspect in the court of public opinion. Essentially, you would show the jury that every concussion causes brain damage. Every single one. Even a single concussion can cause permanent brain damage. Blows to the head while suffering the effects of a concussion exponentially increases the odds of permanent brain damage. The NCAA instituted a concussion protocol to specifically avoid the occurrence of multiple concussion in small time frame. UT via it's Jones and Wells deliberately ignored the protocol placing Brett at risk for multiple concussions. I would advocating for punitive damages.

My $.02....between SFD and Hawk’s research and MIT and now AV’s research it’s clear to me that Gruden has been on board for a while. They would not be going into this power struggle against the Haslams if they didn’t have their man on board 100%. Currie is Haslam’s man but he’s not going to isolate himself from the rest of the boosters to keep Haslam happy because he will be out of a job quickly since it’s apparent the rest of the boosters have Bev on their side now with the research deal. This is not something that has just happened, it’s obvious there has been a ton of planning gone into this.

Or they could be totally inept and lost in the weeds.

I wouldn't be shocked.

Who cares about a coach being contacted, the power of AV message was the last part, this meeting. Guess we will know soon enough. Go Gruden, or Kelly as consolation. Anything else don't care.

Well, the Beav did drop a nugget about a "meeting" and it was not the BOT mtg that everybody assumed.

As a real estate agent - would you be able to contact the selling agent and ask if it is still on the market? Is this unethical?

If it’s a private sale, I have no way of knowing who the agent is. If it’s listed in the Knoxville MLS, the status should be “Pending” and any Knoxville Realtor should be able to see that.

I’m licensed in Florida - Destin/30A area, and don’t have access to the Knoxville MLS.

If it’s Pending in MLS, the Realtor “shouldn’t” give specifics about the sale until closing - at least that’s the way it is here.

If all this up and down...in and out...done but not done... is the life of big $$ and power then I'm glad I'm just a peon.

I think y'all give Haslams too much credit for their perceived power.

Big Jim is probably done with it and resting comfortably, other than a random "get off my lawn!". His will might be a thing, which would give credence to installing Bill as UT president to be the caretaker of the endowment.

Bill himself is sort of a goober. Don't think his IQ wick dipped very deep into the gene pool. I think the family business was grooming him as their man in DC but he's been a disappointment, and besides they are cashing out now and don't need him any more.

Jimmy is kryptonite right now. He could be one squeal for a deal away from an indictment. Either way he has a business to navigate through the acquistion, plus that disaster of an NFL team to look after. Not sure he cares too much about UT football right now.

So, I think the sun is setting on the Haslam dynasty. They had a good run and will ride off into that sunset with their bags of gold and silver.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Big ego can trump any of that. Pardon the unintentional pun.

ya well. here we are. tell Tennessee to be a better football team and my generosity isn't up for scrutiny.

I figured you would respond by saying something about me spending all my money on Little Debbie Cakes. Teed that one up for you and everything.....

From TOS:

this from a poster thats been a member since 2014
This gentleman has had lunch with both of these guys in the last two weeks. He said they are keeping everything super close, but he is going to a function tonight with what he called "The powers that be" and said he hopes more information comes out in the next few days. He also said don't worry about getting an up-and-comer or "small fish"...said it's going to be a wow hire. "Watch out for FL he said, they have the cash and would love to sink their teeth into our guy. "

TIFWIW but this guy I spoke to has his last name on a few buildings down there and donates more than all of us combined.

I should also add that Gruden is #1 on this guys list o.0
the title is "Just spoke with someone in touch with Currie and DiPietro."

Maybe this is the Meeting Atlanta Vol referenced
