Who cares about a coach being contacted, the power of AV message was the last part, this meeting. Guess we will know soon enough. Go Gruden, or Kelly as consolation. Anything else don't care.

Atlanta said if he found out Gruden was the coach 100% he wouldn’t come back and share it because it wasn’t his place. His absence/presence is not indicative of Gruden being coach or not.

Well AV confirmed what many of us, including myself, have feared all along that Haslam would screw this up and surprise surprise he has. Probably a dead deal that could have been a done deal if he hadn't stood in the way. This isn't the damn university of Haslam even if he and his damn family want it to be. You would think Currie wouldn't commit career suicide just to appease one man (an old man who maybe won't even be living by the time we do another search since this hire will be crap). I had so much hope this time I hate the Haslams!!

I am hearing that it's not going to be the Grude. I also read somewhere that Dungy may be in Kahoots. Id be okay with that, but that's just "he said, she said." Who knows? I'd be okay with either or!

I was the 1 that said a big 10 coach.

I’m not an insider. I used to work for UT but now work for a different university (on my 2nd since UT).

Still have friends that work for the UTAD. All I know is that he had mentioned a couple in the AD love a big 10 coach.

Only thing I feel comfortable saying is that it won’t be Fuente.

Not an insider.

I know things can change, but I thought ALL were on board? ALL the ducks were in a row? Everyone was rowing the same direction? Ergen's money trumped Haslam's? Currie is a eunich. Either get on board or get out........

Not sure what to make of Atlanta Vol's post honestly. It throws an absolute wrench in all the information brought up to this point, unless it's a smokescreen of course. lol

this is why I have been questioning things lately... the puzzle pieces from insider info doesn't fit together

Keeping him until the end of the year doesn't change anything if the "deal" is as done as many on here claim.

I realize that. My point was Big Jim has a propensity to change his mind as in with Butch last Sunday. He could have been on board with Gruden earlier and has since changed his mind.

Folks, one big part of AV's post we are missing/overlooking/not discussing:

I was then informed early today of a meeting that will take place that I am supposed to attend (can't give timeline out) that will be about a very large donation opportunity for some folks in attendance. Now I can't imagine in my right mind that they would approach anyone about a meeting like that unless there was something extremely positive was going to happen.

This is the important part of his whole post. Not the "heard we reached out to another coach" or the BS behind the scenes. This meeting he refers to is where the battle will be fought.

From TOS:

this from a poster thats been a member since 2014
This gentleman has had lunch with both of these guys in the last two weeks. He said they are keeping everything super close, but he is going to a function tonight with what he called "The powers that be" and said he hopes more information comes out in the next few days. He also said don't worry about getting an up-and-comer or "small fish"...said it's going to be a wow hire. "Watch out for FL he said, they have the cash and would love to sink their teeth into our guy. "

TIFWIW but this guy I spoke to has his last name on a few buildings down there and donates more than all of us combined.

I should also add that Gruden is #1 on this guys list o.0
the title is "Just spoke with someone in touch with Currie and DiPietro."

Considering he is almost 90, I doubt he is spending his last few good years on Earth sabotaging the UT football program.

I'm not someone who's gonna call for a boycott or anything, but I swear if we don't hire Gruden I will never spend another penny at a pilot. I just could not further support the selfishness and self-righteousness of it all.

Oh, not melting down. Just casually observing what all has been mentioned in the last 160+k posts and combining that with AV's last post. Just seems to go against that, unless it's misdirection.

I will say I am beginning to become a little fatigued from following this for the last month......and my work has definitely suffered. lol

Just like everyone else(except for the 41% morons down in Chattanooga) , I am simply ready for Butch to be gone and to have a new coach.

Here is what doesn't add up, and in hindsight didn't add up in 12. Why would there be a need for a "smokescreen" or a "misdirection?" If a deal has been made, it would be announced. Pure and simple.

I firmly believe that there is no deal, that the AD is not close to any deal, and I question whether the AD is very far along in this process at all.

I hope I'm wrong, but it would be business as usual in our inept administration. It is alarming at how poorly the entire University is managed.

You're an attorney. You and I both know you'd name every deep pocket nearby and hope something sticks. You'll have a hard time proving that Jones is culpable in "should have noticed a particular player's condition on the sidelines, or on-field " when his job is to set procedures and manage the game while trusting his OC to see what is specifically happening in-play, and position coaches to manage personnel on the sidelines.

I reiterate. My position is that this isn't a slam-dunk case against Jones, as was asserted, and even though you did so with more confidence than I think you'd actually feel, you just affirmed it's not a slam dunk case against Jones.

The immediate concern isn't about last Saturday. I immediate concern is this coming Saturday. Now that Currie and himself have become aware, if they allow the coach Kendrick told to be on the sideline then they are knowingly allowing a coach who dismissed player safety instead of relieving him of his duties. At that point they are just as guilty due to their lack of action.

Think of it this way. If you run a day care, and a child is suspected/ showing signs of abuse of some sort that didn't have said signs of abuse before showing up to daycare on a particular day. This would imply that child sustained this abuse while at the day care under the supervision of an employee. Public starts asking questions to you and the owner. The next day rolls around you don't at the lest suspend employee with pay but rather you allow the employee to again watch the kids. You are now at fault and will be ruined.

This is the decision infront of Currie. Either allow these coaches to continue and it'll result in him being at fault, or he can do what's right and save his job.

Haslam agreed that Butch would be relieved of duties after a KY loss and he changed his mind. Haslam has always been the possible hiccup in this whole thing. My hope was that Peyton would have been influential enough to push it through.

Booster needs to throat punch the old man.
