All the regulars, relax. Breathe in then out. Take the next couple of hours to be productive at something else. The mouthbreathers are here to use what brain cells they have left after sniffing so much Afrin to rain on your beliefs and tell you how stupid you are for believing what you believe.

Ok I'm lost or something. This makes no sense to me. We just hires Davenport? Why would there be another president anywhere in the near future?

Davenport is the UTK Chancellor
DiPietro is the President of the entire University system.
That is the position that Bill Haslam would assume if is DiPietro steps down.

And that is?

Just some dude on his computer in the basement stroking his beard and eating funyons.

I'm not throwing shade on the guy, he could be everything he says...but it seems some may be too wrapped up in the persona.

I'm with Doyle on this one. I apologized for calling the dude out early on, but what have we REALLY learned from him?

Sorry to everyone for not being around much but there has been A LOT going on. This week has been an utter **** show....on so many levels.

Their has been hesitation internally to let butch go early due to the reputation that UT has gotten in that regard externally to the coaching community...however I think the hand may get forced on this one. And when I mean let go I mean publically let go....lets not mix that up. He is gone no doubt about that but the timing thing is really playing havoc on this whole process make no mistake about that.

I was delivered either an incredible smokescreen yesterday or something that tells me there is trouble in paradise on the gruden front (lets say it went along the lines of currie reached out to xyz coach to gauge interest what are your thoughts... I won't name the coach as I don't want to throw gas on that log) . I can't tell which yet but I have been on the phone all morning with one of the larger boosters (in ktown) discussing our wonderful browns owner who literally could screw up anything he gets involved in so that tells me all I need to know on that front. Now take all of that and couple it with the next important piece of info.

I was then informed early today of a meeting that will take place that I am supposed to attend (can't give timeline out) that will be about a very large donation opportunity for some folks in attendance. Now I can't imagine in my right mind that they would approach anyone about a meeting like that unless there was something extremely positive was going to happen.

I think the band is about the start playing...the biggest question will be is it who we want playing or not.

So Chip Kelly.

He reached out to Chip Kelly.

Or Dan Mullen...

Or Scott Frost...

Or Bobby Petrino...

That family has plenty of power in lots of different places, and billions of dollars.

I don’t understand why any Haslam would care about UT making a homerun hire for football. It just doesn’t make sense. What power would he be losing?

The power to make decisions with his $$$$. Currently, he is outmatched in dollars and balls (literally).

Haslam agreed that Butch would be relieved of duties after a KY loss and he changed his mind. Haslam has always been the possible hiccup in this whole thing. My hope was that Peyton would have been influential enough to push it through.

He changed his mind based off of what exactly?? He may have changed his mind on paying for the buyout but I doubt he had epiphany on Jones somehow suddenly becoming the answer to UT's struggles considering Jones created them.

Thanks Atlanta Vol!
I appreciate all you do.
Hope we pull Gruden, but would be happy with a Kelly or Patterson (I know pipe dreams)

Anyway what you described is basically King Kong vs Godzilla for power over the orange football. This sort of thing doesn't end well for the little people being caught is the fray.

I know Ergan is UT alum, but what about Haslam? Is he just about the power he can wield or does he have the best interest on the university at heart? If he is simply power hungry, would welcome a transfer of power among the $$$$ boosters.

Who really knows, he's 86 years old. Some old men make the ladies working at Hardee's life hard. He just has a bigger stage.

No offense, but about as much as we've learned from any other "insider" on here, which is nothing.

And, yes, I've thrown shade on Beaver, but I hope he keeps posting. I like reading all of it.

I’m also in real estate and this is fact.
For those scouring county records, it can take 60 to 90 Days following Closing for the rcords to reflect the sale,
For those scouring Zillow, etc. a) if the property was listed in an MLS, it can take a very long time for Zillow to update. Zillow/Trulia is like google for real estate. It pulls in info from multiple sources; i.e. MLS, FSBO sites, etc. b) if this was a private sale, it won’t be in MLS and therefore, won’t be in Zillow.

As a real estate agent - would you be able to contact the selling agent and ask if it is still on the market? Is this unethical?

I think y'all give Haslams too much credit for their perceived power.

Big Jim is probably done with it and resting comfortably, other than a random "get off my lawn!". His will might be a thing, which would give credence to installing Bill as UT president to be the caretaker of the endowment.

Bill himself is sort of a goober. Don't think his IQ wick dipped very deep into the gene pool. I think the family business was grooming him as their man in DC but he's been a disappointment, and besides they are cashing out now and don't need him any more.

Jimmy is kryptonite right now. He could be one squeal for a deal away from an indictment. Either way he has a business to navigate through the acquistion, plus that disaster of an NFL team to look after. Not sure he cares too much about UT football right now.

So, I think the sun is setting on the Haslam dynasty. They had a good run and will ride off into that sunset with their bags of gold and silver.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

That's kinda what some of us have been saying...

I know and I agree. I just couldn’t and still can’t wrap my head around why Haslam would care so much about a coaching hire/power that if he isn’t brokering the deal (even if it’s the best deal) he would rather sabotage it and make a lesser one.

$340 million renovation to Neyland starting in the summer of 2018. Will Haslam cover that himself? Seems like a pretty decent bargaining chip for the other boosters.

Atlanta said if he found out Gruden was the coach 100% he wouldn’t come back and share it because it wasn’t his place. His absence/presence is not indicative of Gruden being coach or not.
