Empty Neyland Movement (#uncluttervolnation)

When I was 17 or 18, I didn't consider myself a kid, primarily because I was too stupid to realize I was still in fact a kid.

Any mistakes or poor decisions I made during that time was of my own doing, not because some older "knucklehead" called me a kid.

Sounds like he's was protected when he made some questionable decisions

Players walk out and see an empty stadium and you think they know it's because of the coaches? What world do you live in?

Not going to the games and keeping your money out of the university does send a message but to the players (WHO are the reason we as fans pay to come watch these splendid young athletes compete and bring home the wins) it sends a completely different message. Sorry but there are other ways to get the fans point across than this emptyneyland movement, and I actually feel sorry for the person that thought this up.

We are smack dab in middle of the information age, with 18-25 years on the leading edge.

If the players don't know why, and haven't heard, or read, the reasons why this empty Neyland thing is becoming a thing, ...... then it's time to get a mirror under their noses, and check for signs of life.

i agree.

but knowing why, and agreeing with it, are two different things. i'm sure they're thrilled with this effort.

No issue players with disagreeing with it, I'd expect nothing less.

But to suggest they're uninformed is absurd, as you confirmed.

i believe that Currie is going to be another Hamilton . I also saw today that that the university is planning another 340 million dollar renovation of Neyland. This is why we need to empty the stadium not just this week but for LSU also. They dont respect the fans anymore and dont care about the product on the field. If they can spend that kind of money on the stadium they can hire and pay a good coach and a top notch staff. They wont because they dont have to because people keep showing up even when the team isnt good. Look at our big beautiful stadium . Then look at the product they have put on the field during all these renovations.

Bingo.

Tennessee is mediocre at best in the SEC and fans have still sold out the stadium for years.

Business decisions. Can keep a cheap coach, fans will accept and pay for mediocrity. So why change anything.

Make more money than Alabama, spend half as much, as long as the fans can dance to music on 3rd down they are happy and paying $$$, and in the stadium so why change anything?

all good points. and it should, has and does, frustrate fans.

but this guy has been on the job for 6 months, and this type of work does fall under the job description. and all those things you listed were, at least in part, the reason he was brought in.

and i don't know that after 6 months, you can make a real determination of how bad he sucks. yet.

From another post. This is why drastic measures are needed.

When is that going to be announced? Or when can that be announced may be the better way to ask it.

I understand, but picture this for a second, if you played any kind of organized sports, how did you feel about your coach? I was fortunate enough to play sports all the way through college, and while I hated my high school coach (we go to church together now and I love him to death) and my college football coach was a demanding hard nose coach, but I would have run through a brick wall for all and would never tolerate anyone tearing them down.

I get your point but these kids for the most part don't understand this is pointed toward the staff and admin. You have to put yourself in their shoes and see through their eyes and that might be a stretch for some but I respect your opinion sir, and God Bless

KNS has a story on it, i linked it earlier in the thread today. still has a few approvals to go thru, but the BOT has approved it, and the funding. now has to go to the state and stuff.......

Absolutely correct !!!!!! We as fans are partly responsible because year end and year out we keep showing up for a **** show. The powers that be dont respect us anymore. thats why they have sunk hundreds millions of dollars in the stadium and have showed so little interest in being competitive on the field. To publicly come out with this right now proves this . We gave up our season tickets during the dooley phase and i wont be back to the stadium until the product on the field shows consistent improvement . I will watch on TV for FREE. If the game sucks like the GA and BAma game im not out one dime and i can get up and go do something constructive with that time.

Well they better plan on putting curtains on the upper bowl. They will lose fans by the thousands if they continue to be committed to mediocrity.

God bless you too, brother.

I just don't think you are giving these young men enough credit. They know Coach Jones IS the target of fan hostilities, and I do understand that most don't like it, and they shouldn't.

I too had some coaches that I loved, and some that I knew were dolts.

The situation has become too toxic for reasonability. Jones needs to be relieved ASAP, so the air can be let out of the balloon. My opinion, of course.

agreed. and we got a new AD, a new chancellor that are middle ways thru their first year on the job as a result.

and soon we'll have a new coach to boot.

the only way the air gets let out, really, is on the hiring...not the firing. that's gonna happen.

it's always what comes next that's most important. firing butch jones doesn't solve the problems on it's own.
