Franklin is such a douche bag. But I've come around to the fact he is a pretty dang good coach. Anyone who can make Vandy a winning program and revive the dumpster fire that was Penn State after that whole tragedy deserves some major props.

Has Cutcliffe done anything Mullen hasn't? Both have coordinated for conference and national championship-winning teams, both have dragged conference bottom-feeders from the depths.

Not to say they're Saban or Meyer. They're not, but not many can even hope to ever come close.

Was just pointing out I think we could do a whole lot worse than Mullen. There isn’t KY, Vandy, USC, and Missouri in the west like Butch has and he still has shown to be more competitive. I venture to guess at UT he would rarely if ever lose one of those 4.

Nah, he doesn't command a double team and we don't have the depth at LB.

It’s a spread but it’s more of a power run set that actually uses the read option. We just run a zone read off tackle 90% of the time.

This could not be further from the truth. We run more gap than zone.

Guys like Taylor, Smith, Butler would be standing up off the edge.

Don’t let the numbers confuse you. The 4th LB is a bigger guy who is almost always is rushing. Not the same role as what we ask our current LBs to do.

My MSU connection says his OL coach is one of Mullen's very good friends. Apparently in the past, the OL has been a source of frustration, and Mullen will not make a change.

I'd say it'll take 6 million at least to get him here. I think he'd be well worth that in the long run. Give him 6, and the money to attract a top staff and I'm not sure MSU could match it.

He's at a minimum of 4.5 right now and probably more with incentives. MSU could probably get him over 5 and maybe to 5.5. It's all about comfort. No reason to risk a little more if he can continue to make them happy.

IMO the only real reason Mullen leaves for a place like UT is because it legitimately gives him a chance to play for an SEC title.

I don't know. I don't watch them that closely. Just throwing out what I know. I have a great friend who has season tickets and been going for years. His dad knew Jackie Sherrell. I can just tell you that has been a point of contention and Mullen is loyal.
