Butch can't get a job after this..negotiated contract is messed up..need new contract or fire with cause which will take until after an internal investigation so you have to suspend with pay his HC duties or pay full buyout, stripling as interim, looks bad on UT, for boosters contracts may need reevaluated based on increased cost, Gruden is ?? ...that's where it could go either way
I find this interesting but have only begun to scratch the surface. Figured I'd give it a shot to test my understanding.
We can assume the two parties settled at an equilibrium state when they agreed to the terms of the Gruden deal/Butch release, which puts the system at a pareto efficient (optimum) state. We know it is a pareto optimum state since any attempt to benefit someone by deviating to some other outcome will necessarily result in a loss in satisfaction to someone else. The equilibrium state is a function of time, which, prior to the Kendrick situation, can be considered a constant.
The introduction of the Kendrick situation forced a change in the time, which forced a change in the equilibrium. With an artificial movement in the equilibrium point, the pareto efficiency was forced into a pareto ineffient state.
The effect of time on the equilibrium means Currie receives less of his perceived advantage of the original deal (in a sense, a loss from his equilibrium state) and the boosters receive more of the perceived advantage of the original deal (in a sense, a gain from their equilibrium state).
The Comb is one of my favorite posters on VN. Insiders are around, it has been a very interesting past 2 days. The Kendricks issue is a big deal (both in the health of that kid and on the implications it has on Butch).
For the game theory nerds, whoever can correctly summarize the implications this has on Currie and the boosters will win a a couple free scotch drinks on me at a home game next year.
PS, i'd love to have a try at some high $ Scotch.Ok the Implications on Currie are that he has to be careful and delicate handling the situation, knowing he has to protect UT's image as well as aid in getting Butch out. Currie keeps saying, Butch is our coach blah blah blah. However, i feel that Currie does want to dump Butch as fast as possible. I also feel like Currie wants to handle the situation as professionally as possible. I feel like Butch is getting all the treatment that Fulmer should have recieved, because the university feels like they recieved a bad image from Fulmers treatment (plus Fulmers involved).
Boosters, now our $$$ boys, i feel that if the fact that some of our boosters were divided on timing. (Haslam vs everyone keeps reoccurring on every feed). I do not think Haslam was against Gruden. But i do believe that Haslam had to do with the timing of the event. With that said, I'm hoping/thinking that these implications step on Haslams toes and speeds up the process.
Unless MITBeaver, Butch is proved innocent. Then everything moves along as planned to begin with.
SOON
Thanks for info Beav
Where have YOU been? Great post. I think.
