Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

I've never seen so many conflicting speculation in my life. One "insider" says Gruden is a lock...and been in plans for 5 years. Another says he's already been hired basically...then actual reporters say Currie has no intention of even firing Butch at all.

It concerns me that the only things we've heard Currie say publicly...and/or reported by people paid to report things...is that he is 100% on Butch's side and intends to keep him. Currie has said NOTHING to suggest Butch is even close to being gone.

I'm sorry. I wanna be on the Grude train and want to believe these anonymous "insiders" but the facts and what we are seeing play out suggest they are simply creative...and smart trolls who are just playing some sick game for their own amusement.

I'm all in for Gruden...but there is NOTHING substantial from anyone reputable suggesting anything "Grude" is going to happen.

Wasn't something "big" supposed to happen today according to these "insiders"?

Okay...and what was that exactly?

Ok so I was actually talking with my bro-in-law yesterday about this.

He has a theory, his theory is that Currie doesn't want to fire Jones because he will most likely have to fire Warlick after this up coming season. Because Currie has no intention of having to fire both coaches of his biggest athletic brands in the same year.

So if he knows he's most likely going to have to fire Warlick, he is trying to not fire Jones so he doesn't have to try and replace both in the same year.

Again this is my brother-in-law's theory, but if you think about it, it kind of makes sense.

Add to what you said how all we hear is how Currie is backing Jones 100% and nothing else, it does make you question things.

We're not hiring Mike Bobo. Ever.

I feel like our next hire is going to be closer to the Mike Bobo type than the Jon Gruden type. And that's not me saying anyone here is lying, just how I am wired now thanks to past experiences.

Our last three hires: Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, and Butch Jones.

All these folks who believe Gruden will be our next coach...would you be willing to wager say a 3 month hiatus from Volnation if he doesn't come?? Alot people say theu know a guy who saw a guy that saw Gruden and it's happening this time but that basically makes you D4H

They will anyway...particularly the main players

When do you think MIT will start retracting his "sources" and saying deal fell through to cover face?

Difficult to say. It all depends when certain things happen. It will either be:

1. When word starts to leak who our next coach (not Gruden) will be

or

2. Word starts to leak around of Gruden accepting an NFL deal

Basically until the majority on here give up hope

Everyones gone dark on everything, VFL's pulled all their tweets down, Atl disappeared, GTO left us, its getting cold out here in the dark. Im praying its a quiet before the storm. Maybe just maybe they were contacted by someone in the AD, and were told this is what we are doing, the reason why is because of JG. Please try and refrain from it getting out to respect Grudes wishes. Maybe...................
SOON

ATL said he'd stop posting if someone in the athletic dept asked him to stop. I figure that's what happened.

While a good theory, if coaches aren't performing, they get fired, independent of what other coaches in the university are doing. If more than one coach needs to go, the AD should make it happen

Rather than simply suggesting all these contradictions (in your mind) ... why not simply state who said Gruden was a lock? who said Gruden had been in the plans for five years? and who said he is basically already hired?

I have only read one person (MIT) say Gruden was a done deal 100% but have NOT read the other things by the "insiders" that you stated where said...

There has been a LOT of speculation in this thread by everyone.... but not any so called "insiders".

As far as the local media, we have a present coach, he has not been fired in a public way, they must report accurate information and they want to keep access to the AD office .... what do you expect them to say?

Now, what else you got?

Kiffin was considered to be a home run type hire. He screwed us so Hamilton settled on Dooley who completely wrecked the program making it undesirable so we had to settle for an ok coach in Butch. We are in a much better place now, keep the faith!
