Its all about access for reporters. None of them want to ask a question that gets them ignored the nest time around. What's weird - this isn't like the NFL (where the franchises are private companies) - as a state institution, they can't just exclude a reporter for asking the wrong question. As such, other than intimidation or harassment factors, they should have no fear to be as bold as they want to be.

Have no idea why people are surprised media is going "soft."

1) Butch is done, and everyone in that room knows it. When the hammer officially drops is the only thing anyone is really wondering about.
2) Only a VERY small number of people know who the AD is really looking at as a replacement. There's a lot of rumor in that regard coming from outside of the AD, but there's nothing coming from inside.

Those media folks want to have an inside track to information when it's really ready to break, and they know they won't get it if the don't toe the line for the AD. Despite how we feel as fans, those media guys are doing exactly what they should if they want a solid future reporting on UT. Hammering Butch, or Currie, when it's obvious neither will talk isn't going to do anyone any good. Sure, you can be a hero to fans for a second or two for asking a hard-hitting question which no one will answer, but you'll then spend the next two years on the outside looking in.

It’s apparent that the assessment has been made that the cost/benefit of keeping Butch is better than the alternative.

There is mounting evidence from news sources that Butch will not be retained. So, again, keeping him on board outweighs firing him in-season.

With multiple other vacancies opening now and likely after the season, the assumption would be from the outside that our AD is content competing with these other programs for a new HC, or already has a solution.

Yep...only explanation and have had this thought since Beavers first few posts. If you have "your guy", there is no rush. HE will make everything ok once HE arrives! SOON...November 27th

Just wait until Butch is gone the stories that will come out. I know first hand straight out of the mouth of a players mom. I grew up with this mom and she and her sister is very close to my family mainly my sister and my mom. If I really wanted to know the Kendrick truth, all I have to do is make one phone call to her as her son is very close with Brett and his family and they play the same position on the OL. This mom use to love Butch and told me the more she found out what kind of person he is then she started to dislike him and not trust him at all. She knows a lot, trust me!

But I'm not getting involved in this mess and will be just reading and lurking only because of some info I reported the other day here with a friend of mine who works in recruiting for 247sports.com and getting blasted over it. I don't blame DTO leaving!

Carry on and let the cards fall as they must! Sooner or later all this will come out, trust me when Butch is gone.

No, I used what’s called an analogy. It’s using a situation/ circumstance to explain how another situation/circumstance could be playing out. Not to be a party-pooper, but odds on betting sites are more a reflection of current betting trends than actual probabilities. They don’t care how likely an event is to actually occur, as much as ensuring the bets are even on both sides so they make money regardless.

Seriously though, I know everyone is on edge wanting action, but (as I added to my first post in this thread) if you're going to get upset about rumors and self-proclaimed insiders (some legit and some not) then this isn't the thread for you. Simply avoid it. It's not for everyone, and that's perfectly fine.
