Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

Nah..he hasn't been the only one saying this. Guys who have been known insiders have said the same.

Other guys have said similar things, but have not garnered the following the Beav has. It's unprecedented. Beaver has not waivered, or been vague about anything really. He's been bold and steadfast in his boldness. He will go down in VN history, one way or the other.

I find it hilarious that the posi and nega sides have basically switched places. The former posis used to tell the negas to gtho with all their negativity. Now, they've moved into the Grumors thread and they're telling the neo-negas to gtho with all their negativity.

It's awesome, and awe inspiring. The world still refuses to coexist with differing opinions.

Butchna and I talked about this before season started. It was the reason that brought me to this thread.

How do you know? You said to ask

Doesn't mean I am allowed to answer. But there once was a bee named Geraldine. Pollinated all around...

Geraldine, chrysanthemine
Prettiest little flower that I ever seen
She's a friend of mine, she's a friend of mine
Petal child, growin' wild and
Even though she's livin' in a compost pile
She's my glitter and my gold

You are spot on... it is about passion. He is one of the most dedicated, driven, competitive individuals you would ever meet. I have sat close by him at arena league games watching his brother's team play. He was a blast. Heckling the refs, giving them the Chucky stare and could not sit still the entire game.

I worked for PWC in Tampa during the time frame that he was the Bucs coach. I passed One Buc Place every morning around 4:45 to 5:15am. His and Monte's vehicles were there most of the time. Would see Monte jogging around that time each day. Heard CJG speak a number of times, he talked about not having a life and sleeping on the couch in his office sometimes during the week of a big game to prepare.

Quick story and you most likely can find this on the web. After the Bucs went to play the regular season game against the Eagles during the Buc's Superbowl year. They lost with CJG's offense getting manhandled by the Eagles defense. On the bus/plane ride back CJG was breaking down film. Warren Sapp tells the story of CJG coming to him on the ride back, giving him a Chucky stare and a profanity laced statement saying,"I got them, I got those SOB's bitz packages and tendencies". He told Sapp, "you guys get us to the playoff and we meet the Eagles again, we got their ass". He was true to his word and the Bucs beat the Eagles in Philly to make the Super bowl.

I know, cool story bro.... but you take that passion and understand that with football, "Gruden is the smartest person in the room". That has the makings of a winning coach in my eyes and most anyone with any real knowledge of the game. This includes all of the NFL who would love to have him on the sidelines.

Know a guy on AD staff. As of yesterday, they were getting word that Gruden is in. Up to that point,he was not getting any information. He said that the staff is pretty confident.

Just icing on the cake at this point since everyone already knew this. Just made me happy to hear it from someone that isn't anonymous to me.

Anything about Butch being let go?

Will someone please explain to me why you think Gruden is such a sure fire winning coach?

His record is just a little above mediocre. And it's all NFL. You have to recruit in college, and it needs to be a passion. He is an NFL guy.

So why Gruden?

NFL has a salary cap and "level competition" College is recruiting, development, coaching. Do you think he couldn't do those 3 things?

If true this indicates a serious shift as previously we were getting no or silence from AD and absolute yes from boosters. Can anyone verify? Boro, my boy?

Charlie Garner who has been a family friend and more since 95 insinuated the same thing in twitter days ago..I'm catching up but think Gruden is signed already with contingencies other things happen...as Preacher and another poster said..multiple contracts could be in play.

Ding ding ding

I am done with hints or else I may get shut down again. Unfortunately there are people in the ad who read these and also other media outlets. I got ousted once. Sorry for the little info I can give.

I was working during the presser...did anyone ask Butch why on Monday he said the only injury was to Josh Smith?

Exactly. Great point. If Currie met with Jones Sunday night about the supposed concussion, why didn’t jones mention it in the injury report?! He either blatantly lied or was told not to say anything
