Missing him hurts. We have an OC who is lost right now though. We win 3 of those games we lost with Debo imo.

I say it’s 80% Dobbs 20% Debo.
Dobbs constantly bailed us out of bad situations. He made our OL look good at times which is incredible.

Debo was really good at getting the ball to playmakers even in simple ways.

Speaking of WVU, I know a guy here who is a notable booster there. He is also friends with Butch going back to his WVU days, and stays in contact with him.
He said he hadn't talked to him since the season started, but didn't look like he'd survive. Said he had a hard time letting people do what they're hired to do, and wanted to control everything. Said Holgerson was the same way, but has learned to let that go. Said he was that way at CMU and UC too.
Makes total sense. That kind of mentality works at a small school. Tennessee needs a CEO. Butch is a shift manager.

Our OL is almost intentionally bad at times

Guys imo this is sooo much simpler than we try to make it.

On Saturday/Sunday fans and Boosters wanted blood.
From Currie's methodical perspective he would go from a known issue to an unknown one, and actual questions about his search.
Currie makes his case Sunday to Jim or whomever and wins, thereby retaining Butch
Kendrick deal is relatively unknown on Sunday/Monday as Currie begins his press tour to quiet mob while he continues his vetting.

By Tuesday the Kendrick deal is full blown and tips scales (potentially) against Butch as being more "headaches" than Currie wants.

Big Jim does not have to be the devil in every UT story book.

If you believe Larry, big Jim was/is the holdup.

Morning all,

Quick note, TIFWIW but Swain said he doesn't think Butch coaches this Saturday.

Hank, hearing anything like this today?

Even still. Our offense would not be as inept as it is now. I think we beat USCe, Florida and Kentucky with Debord.

We wouldn’t be the same as we were with Dobbs but we’d be 6-2.

Holding what up?

The firing.

Just throwing some things together I've heard.

Thunder has been a source of information for Hyams in the past. Hyams keeps saying he thinks Fulmer is really fighting against Butch being fired midseason because he was fired midseason and he knows how tough it is. Fulmer and Thunder are tight.

Throwing a wrench in the system, and delaying Butch's firing at Fulmer's insistence, is Thornton's way of saying "F you" to Currie.

Not trying to be a jerk, but this theory is every bit as speculative as the Gruden theories that you’re against (and for the record, I don’t think those theories are any more true than this one). But I do get that’s the premise of this site.

Gotcha. I am ready for him to be gone but I am rooting for a win this weekend.

The cloud surrounding CBJ now is so great that it just needs to be over. I thought we were done with the silly rumors after he lost his fourth game but apparently they are gonna crank back up again. Sick of the foolishness. I hope we can put an end to the CBJ era soon.

Right - that's fine.

The difference, to me, is I'm trying to be upfront in saying that I'm throwing things together. I'm not pretending to be a big booster saying this or that is a done deal.

I’d just like to see an announcement that this will be his final game, ask the fans to thank him for his work with applause instead of boycotting or booing, and let’s move on.

Some of you’ns Want blood tho

Yeah, they should've already done it. And I think they know it. They're just not very decisive over there. They can make decisions but as soon as the time comes to act on those decisions the **** hits the fan.

Currie is a bit of a narcissist - he can only see things from his perspective. He's got the goal of firing Butch and hiring the next guy with as little time in between as possible. Which is fine, but he's not very good at judging the angst in the building and how others (Butch, mainly) may be feeling right now. I feel bad for Butch just as I felt bad for McElwain. It's tough to fail and then have to answer for those failures publicly.

Currie has done today's equivalent of putting Butch in the stocks.

I've been around power people who take the mindset of "don't make a big move until you absolutely have to." If there is nothing pressing them they wait and make sure there isn't another play to be made. Firing CBJ and paying the full buyout is always a possibility. That option never goes away. So wait and see if something else arises. Fire with cause, CBJ land a new job, he settles for a lower buyout, etc.

Let's say for just a second that this BK situation is real and UT ends up firing him with cause. We would save $7.5 million and then some. But it would only be possible because CBJ was still our coach when it happened. There's a lot of money at stake here. We all want to point at Florida but their situation is not the same. They fired Mac on Sunday because they had to do it quick because they are doing it with cause. Yeah, he sucked and they knew it but the timing was about $.

I think it was believing that his plan was infallible and not listening to people with other good ideas.

This all day for the last 5 years!

Plus I think the Larry Scott hire was a terrible choice. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a belief they opened the pocketbook up for him yo find an OC? And he tabbed Scott! Baffling.

Too late in the week for Butch not to coach unless it's his decision. I don't see Butch leaving that buyout money on the table.

Ok lets just stop with Kendrick having anything to do with CBJ's present or future. Everyone should know its the trainers and doctors who make that call, not the head coach. It has nothing to do with him and has nothing to do on whether he could be fired for cause. Only thing that will get CBJ fired is losing enough games to take a bowl off the table. Right now that sits at 3. That's it no matter what insider says what. Book it. Check my stats. Soon. Blah Blah Blah.

Because no matter who he hired or recruited he was only ever willing to run his scheme. Baffling.

That's fine - but waiting around for him to do something sketchy so you can fire him with cause isn't the best way to go about business.

They're going to try to negotiate the buyout regardless of when or why he is fired. That talk has already begun.

I do believe Sexton is working to find him another job. That's just the way Butch is. In 2015 he tried to get the Michigan job and was lining it up and last year he tried to line up the Purdue and North Carolina jobs.

I wonder if Fulmer said he doesn't want to be interim. that would temper this assistant feud nonsense. i think itd be a great move imo.
