Counzo called Charlie strong and told him how some of the money guys were treating him along with the fans. It is a big reason why Strong didn’t come here.

Zo’s a great source for career advice. Bet Charlie’s got him on that USF Christmas card list!

It was a motley crew at practice Tuesday, as the media was allowed to view a few periods of practice. Tennessee remains banged up a multiple spots, especially along the OL. Walt Wells had just six scholarship lineman to work with, and most notably, Trey Smith saw action at left tackle.

If the Vols had to play today they would likely line up with Devonte Brooks at right tackle, Ryan Johnson at right guard, Coleman Thomas at center, Jashon Robertson at left guard and freshman Smith at left tackle. The sixth guy at the moment would be Riley Locklear.

The Vols could get healthier before Saturday but as of right now the offensive line looks like a huge question mark.

Elsewhere, senior tight end Ethan Wolf, linebacker Quart'e Sapp, corner Baylen Buchanan and freshman linebacker Solon Page III were all in green, non-contact injuries.

Tennessee worked on various special teams drills early in practice, including some punt block stuff.

During the routes on air period, both quarterbacks and receivers were really sharp on short slants and out routes. Tony Sorrentino was pretty vocal today, praising both Tyler Byrd and Marquez Callaway for nice routes. However, the period went off the rails when Tennessee started throwing corners to the TEs and deep seams to the wideouts. Jarrett Guarantano and Will McBride struggled with accuracy, while the wideouts dropped multiple passes, too. On the first run through the route tree, just 2 of 5 balls were completed — drawing the ire of Larry Scott. The second time through for both units was better, but still several passes hit the turf.

In all of Butch Jones career at Tennessee, the OL has consistently been terrible. Dooley recruited and coached MUCH better players at that position other than Trey Smith.

Except that year he didn't recruit any ...

I feel we are best poised to win big with a good coaching hire of those teams that will likely shopping coaches.
