I came in here for the fun, giggles and just to meet up with some of the old gang from 2012 coaching search... I started out just having fun and going along with the gag..... As I read more and more I have come to believe that you are correct here

I think the naysayers are of three minds.

The first are those who genuinely have doubts and concerns. They can be identified by their politeness in asking probing questions and their genuine desire to hear all perspectives.

The second are people who can not grasp complicated, dynamic and fluid situations. They are easily confused. Their confusion causes them to be quick to anger when something doesn't go exactly as planned or as predicted; Thus leading to name calling and saying others are FOS. Again, they simply can't grasp multi-dimensional concepts.

The third are people that are iconoclasts by nature and revel in tearing things down. These people have never done anything of note in their lives and seek joy in making others miserable as they do not have the tools to make themselves happy or to be satisfied with the lives they have made.

in total honesty, i'm #1, with a hint of #2.

I'm seriously confused about the vitriol towards the "academic side" of the university. Without strong academics we don't have billionaire boosters coming down the line. It is a circle that must be connected. No one wins by hating the academics.

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement SFD. Speculating here but maybe it goes back to the bitterness of the Linda Bensel Meyers era that shaped some of that vitriol.

100% agree....If ESPN was smart...why would they not come out and say in some crypic way that JG job is safe...

If it is, I'm sure Gruden knows, but why would they feel the need to go public?

Before I get ran out of here, I have to get to 100 post..i am tired of this JR status so cut me some slack...I know how he left, I know what he done... I get it but from a pure football coach standpoint We could do a lot worse than kiffin ( see current coach), he can flat out coach, no talent and almost beat bama will never forget it, but it doesn't matter because this is the gruden thread and Gruden is coming to the hill anyway....JMO

I don’t think they disagree with you - I think they’re referring to some in academics who really do strongly dislike and resent athletics.

The athletic director does, Bill Haslam is the Governor so technically he's Currie's boss. It's all about what the Haslam family wants.

I'm in the same boat as you haha. My mind went to maybe freeing up more money to hire a coach? Just taking a guess and reading into it.

if i remember correctly, the whole thing initially was SUPPOSED to free money up, efficiency and all that.

i'm confused as a termite in a yoyo.

Besides, Kiffin ran a thug program here and left us with NCAA sanctions. He has a very good offense mind but definitely not worth the baggage.
