I've been waiting to see some numbers on that. If people don't show up for games, that number won't matter. Saturday will tell us how serious people are about not going to games. If that game is close... its going to get UGLY.

Everyone knows what is happening on, even Shoop has said, "Nobodys stupid, we know what is going on." I refuse to believe that Currie is oblivious. There is something afoot. Why the total silence? This will probably be the biggest hire of his career and I do not believe is sitting in his office twiddling his thumbs. The big donors are tired of mediocrity and they know how close we were in 2012. The xfactor this time is PM along with PF. I have followed Beaver and Buba's comments closely, and while I may not be able to wax poetic like HearForGrumors, I believe that patience will be rewarded. One thing that intrigues me is the silence from Atlanta VOL is deafening.

Currie has everyone on lockdown mode, DP may not know anything more than what is rumored or he may know a "little" more, bottom line is Currie is in control and had told everyone that may know something to STFU or else......

I think most if not all of the scepticism and resistance from those that refuse to believe Gruden will be our next HC, do understand how big this is and know our administration.

Power, ego, big money and history have a slight edge on, yes, it could be denied. If there wasn't a chance of it being denied, the big money guys wouldn't have to threaten cutting out the money.

I'm more optimistic than I was a week ago.

I agree with you about the enormity of this decision. I think I'm a little less optimistic than I was a week ago (when I was at 90-95%). I think the power struggle of 2012 was won by academic side. I thought that had been resolved this time, but now I'm not sure. Why did MIT (booster lobbyist if you will) post an important meetings taking place this week. Clearly everything not settled. Until we clear this hurdle I don't think we can feel confident.
Edit to add that I'm still around 65-70% because I think things are moving in right direction. & I'm hoping what Hubbs said was true (Currie doesn't need any permission/vote approval). And I take comfort in NOT seeing any posts from AtlantaVol saying we've hit a snag.

I know it's been asked at least once but is there any speculation to who could potentially be on Gruden's staff if this plan comes to fruition? I saw Mike Waufle's name as DL coach.

This is still a sticking point to me. If everyone supposedly knows, how come no one is saying anything?

As we saw with FL, it was out there fast, and it was done fast. I just find it hard to believe that the guy has been fired for over a month now and no sports media is reporting it.

You might be able to explain why ESPN isn't, but not the rest. I'm just not buying it yet, I was at first, but since the whole FL fiasco I'm starting to re-think it.

But I do agree with your other post, either Currie is incompetent or a diabolical genius who is sitting back in his chair maniacally laughing at all this.

Well, slow news night for the most part partially filled with nostalgia of years gone past and bars, concerts and clubs revisited. Why, it reminds me of that time I was on spring break myself and came across these two lovely sorority girls that just loved a man in uniform...

That story is probably is inappropriate to be sharing here. I'll just tuck that away since Freak already has me on speed dial and is likely looking at this with "the look" on his face with his finger poised on the button. So, we'll save that for another time, shall we?

It was determined AllVolinGA has no insider status last night by his own admittance. But certainly went on a rant against the trolls. However, it's actually auf wiedersehen. (Two words.)

John Currie did an interview. Fairly cryptic quotes throughout the interview though I get the impression he knows the time. I might have to take back the bad things I said and was thinking about him...though probably not. He best have drawn the royal flush on his coaching search as calm as he seems to be. Most other P5 and G5 programs would have (and some already have) canned coaches for less than what Jones has done. Or rather, hasn't done.

Game of Thrones nerds fans continued to show their dorky side enthusiasm last night. They need a hobby or something. I'm halfway expecting the first annual Volnation Medieval Fair to be announced soon. Of course, we at Volnation News will cover that live.

Beaver dropped by in the middle of the dragon parade. Said he felt "very, very happy." Also said he agreed UT was taking a pounding in the public opinion but that would come to a swift end.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Vol fans suddenly cried out "YOU CAN DO THAT HERE!" after Gruden stated "boy I miss coaching" last night on MNF.

And apparently, some Florida fans are color blind since Gruden had on a red, white and blue tie, but they thought it was UF colors. Silly Gators...

And just as I was heading to bed, Bubba stopped in to announce another meeting this week, though unsure of which one. Beaver alluded to a meeting we should be watching out for, but most assumed it was the BOT meeting. Something else is in the winds...

Bob Shoop dropped a minor bomb about the state of the program yesterday. Basically, "we know what's going on, but we're focusing on Saturday." Read between the lines there, folks.

The trolls showed up last night for the night shift. A little outside their range.

In other news today, we had an exclusive interview with the infamous Team 121 Trash Can. And found him to be quite charismatic and intelligent. Here's an excerpt from the interview:

"People keep asking me 'hey aren't you embarrassed or something.' I mean, I could be embarrassed, but I know everyone has to start somewhere, right? I know my job is important for the team and I don't get tired of hauling around all those life championship trophies. And really, it's getting me some exposure and making a little money here and there. Eventually, I'm going back to school to make something of myself. I'm pretty sure I've got a career path laid out for me to someday be a recycling bin. By being a recycling bin, I can really help current and future generations as long as I show tenacity, maturation and resilience."

We wish Trash Can the best of luck in his endeavors.

I disregard anyone who validates by saying that they are close family friends with a major booster and this is what he says. Information in a deal this size is tightly guarded. That is why I mostly disregarded the Beav at first. This guy is just a negative Nancy. There are clear cut facts that point to us going after Gruden very seriously. There isn't much to back up his claims. Anyone claiming what he claims should be disregarded entirely.

Is it though? I mean FL didn't take that long to decide that they didn't like the possible direction McElwain was taking the program so they did something about it.

No side stepping, no cryptic crap, just straight up they didn't like it and so changed it.

Yet we can't change after five season? With obvious issues popping up left and right.

and what would you call our situation? The fact that every national media member in the country and basically calling our AD an idiot because he hasn't fired Jones yet to me is a lot worse than what FL went through.

At least they can say "well he lied on a very serious matter", our AD just aww shucks it and we look like idiots.

Then you got fans wanting to boycott games, taking over twitter feeds about other sports, fire butch signs every where, yet this isn't a s$%t storm?

You're right it's not that, it's a freaking cluster f$%#k

I was being sarcastic. Currie is letting our great football program take some major brand hits, so his process better be worth it.

They are high hopes, but we will see.

Gruden's son's football schedule has been debunked, per VFLnSFD he is not on the roster this year. But the issue is, is Gruden still a volunteer coach there? Everything else I agree with :)
