Good morning to all the Grudenites who are up and at it early. Have to admit I found solace in falling to sleep to the voice of Gruden calling the game last night. I am as confident as ever, we will get him. Gruden Soon!!

I think the fan base could deal with BJ coaching the rest of the season IF the AD sand BJ came out and said this is what is going to happen.

We need confidence what is happening is headed the right direction otherwise we have no confidence it is

I agree 100%. Personally I believe that to be the case. Especially given Jon Grudens comments about getting back into coaching last night. I think he is our guy. No questions. I think everyone behind the scenes knows that’s the case. But there is some contractual issue or money wrinkles that is keeping an official announcement from taking place. That is the only reason I can honestly logically arrive at when i see how patient John Currie is being. He has to know Jon Gruden is a lock. 100% cement, not even a question, the handshake is complete, everyone is on board, Gruden is happy, Currie is happy, boosters are happy...so whatever Butch does is pointless really. Currie will let the fanbase pitch a fit, get their frustrations out, then Gruden will walk up into our program and turn it all the way up to eleven. Currie will look like a genius in the end and he knows it.

That’s all I can think of. For Butch to be here right now, it has got to be bc his coming or going doesn’t really matter at this point. And like Currie said in his radio show last night, his dad was a surgeon and taught him that “there is no problem you can’t make worse by operating on it.”....he is letting the sleeping dog lay.

Good morning all. I saw a 'to hell with the negativity' post so I guess there is really no need for me to review activity from last night.

Good morning! I went to bed at 11 last night, but a lot happened in here over night. I have many thoughts on this.

-I think the #emptyneyland thing is ridiculous. Anyone paying attention can see that Butch has been fired. I feel for the boys. I get, however, that folks think it is their best way to protest. It frustrates me for the small business owners that end up impacted the most.

-I don't understand why people are mad that the AA wants to be the "Harvard of the South although I've never heard it described that way. Strong athletics and strong academics are symbiotic. Look at Michigan. No one should care more or less about either of these sides. TN is a UNIVERSITY first and foremost.

-our new bff HearforGrumors helped drive home to me yesterday the immense scope of this. No way did these negotiations start last week or even last month. An incredible amount of leg work has gone into this on every side of this equation. To me, bubba and MIT are the obvious talismans of that. There are people so heavily invested in this that they have sent/paid people to share information to influence the court of public opinion. This isn't a matter of Currie calling Gruden and saying, "hey, you wanna coach here?" This deal won't be denied because of the investment that has already been made.

- side note... funny to me how when we call people newbies they don't understand that we are talking about this thread and not this forum.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but I thought it was interesting ... The timing that seems to line up with Butch's "final game" slip referring to the Soithern Miss game and the BOT meetings Thursday and Friday. Anybody have any thoughts? Seems to lend to a timeline.

After reading through the nightly updates, I have a question. The BOT meets on Thursday and Friday. I can only assume since I have never been a Trustee, that the Athletic Committee will also meet during that time. Are there any other meetings happening this week or next as referenced by Buba?
Everyone knows what is happening on, even Shoop has said, "Nobodys stupid, we know what is going on." I refuse to believe that Currie is oblivious. There is something afoot. Why the total silence? This will probably be the biggest hire of his career and I do not believe is sitting in his office twiddling his thumbs. The big donors are tired of mediocrity and they know how close we were in 2012. The xfactor this time is PM along with PF. I have followed Beaver and Buba's comments closely, and while I may not be able to wax poetic like HearForGrumors, I believe that patience will be rewarded. One thing that intrigues me is the silence from Atlanta VOL is deafening.

AV's silence is important. I agree.

This hire will be a giant thing for all of CFB. Think about how much Saban to Bama has changed the landscape. Harbaugh to Michigan hasn't had quite the same impact, but similar. We will be the 3rd team to stand up and say "we are here to play big boy football."

There are only 2 things you can think about Currie.

1. He is a complete idiot won cares nothing about his career or the university.

2. He is a benevolent evil genius.

There is no in between.

The BOT meeting isn't the only meeting taking place this week.

Hmm...isn’t Gruden supposed to be in town for the homecoming game? Anyone think he may be meeting with the powers that be to finalize this thing?

I appreciate that. I was gonna go back and get caught up, but think I'll just stay here! I don't want to go to the down side of the roller coaster this early.
