Well checkthetape has thrown some serious cold water on this tonight. Since I already believed the UT admin is a pathetic bunch of nerds that give no craps about sports, it rings true to me. A lot truer than the Beavs information. I don't think there is some grand strategy in play, just more of the same fumbling bumbling crap. I can't take it anymore.

Unfortunately, I completely agree with this and only hope that we’re both wrong.

I think several parties involved want Gruden to be here but Academia is going to mess it up again. I think this is also why we get 2nd and 3rd tier coaches. Why would a top tier guy come here knowing the obstacles he’s going to face.

Has AV vouched for checkthetape? At this point, I'm gonna be skeptical of people who show up trying to throw cold water on Gruden unless they lay their cards on the table by naming verifiable names of their sources.

People like that will either latch onto the next coach with the same fierce loyalty or go away forever when a change is made.

He’s attacking Wes R*cker with that comment I screenshot btw. Lolol. He posted an article basically saying Butch gotta go. That dude blew a valve with that long post. Lol.

From Currie’s interview, it sounds like Butch will coach the rest of the season.

From Gruden’s comment about missing coaching, it seems he is ready for us to go ahead and make the move so he can be our coach.

“It’s science.” (Ron Burgundy reference)

Yeah. At this point...I can’t see what firing him would actually prove or improve. Everything that could/will be said has been said. I mean, 3 games left, it’s a wrap. I’m not sure Gruden can really play ball publicly until the ESPN deal runs its course. Plus the Corona and Hooters deals probably tie in there somehow.

I think once Butch is canned and the recruits and players are notified, it will be ok. The early signing period will probably only wrap up small numbers of players anyways. Mainly the ones that have been committed for a long long time. February is when the vast majority of them will probably commit still. Especially the wishy washy kids (majority). Gruden is announced and we will get a huge surge of guys committing and flipping. Especially offensive guys. I just hope Cade Mayes comes to his senses before he’s woo’d by pastor Dabo.

I think the fan base could deal with BJ coaching the rest of the season IF the AD and BJ came out and said this is what is going to happen.

We need confidence what is happening is headed the right direction otherwise we have no confidence it is and that is why fans are wanting to empty Neyland. They are trying to send a message because no message is being sent to us anyone cares yet
