Has anything important ever been said on vol calls? Just like a CBJ presser. If you listen to that show and somehow get angered you deserve it.

I don't even understand half of the idiots anymore that think someone is going to go on radio and say yep that loser is fired and I'm going for Gruden....

Them getting upset at Vol calls is no different than what would happen if he released a statement. No different than the replies to the tennis tweet.

Gonna go off no matter what.

I think there's a decent chance that the way they've handled this firing hurts them. Although I've questioned why we've hung on to Jones this long, I have faith in Currie and I think the way he's playing this could ultimately be the right way to handle it. He appears to be very shrewd. I could see him, Phillip Fulmer, and Peyton along with this top job swaying Frost to come here. This is a goldmine.

One of the things that hurt us was the way we fired Fulmer so when I'm not hitting refresh every 5 mins to see if Butch is fired, I can understand the plodding pace of things. That said, Fulmer was so well respected among his coaching peers there was almost an unspoken code about when it would be ok to consider the job and by that time we'd already effed up two hires.

I think the way we handled Fulmer is definitely having an effect in the way we're handling Jones.

I also think that Florida jumping the gun on Mac might've had an impact as well. Currie likely didn't want to be seen as simply reacting to that. From a fan perspective, it's terrible--a relatively unknown AD is asking the fanbase to just trust him despite the fact that we've went through a series of awful ADs and awful to mediocre coaches--but it may turn out ok in the end and really the end result (who we hire and how they perform) is all that matters.

Bingo.

Yep not sure how anyone compares a guy that didn't play at a high level and coached under Rich Rod/Debord and never was a coordinator at a high level vs a National Championships QB that played in NFL on defense learned under Parcells, Belicheck, monte, Gruden, Osborne and Kelly, was an OC for a Power 5 team in the college football playoff. Not even comparable the makeup of the two. His last 2 QBs at Oregon finished #1 in qB efficiency and two weeks ago his current QB was #2. So he might end with 3 of 4 yrs with the top QB in country per NCAA... yet he is Butch 2.0?

Add Tomlin as position coach and mentor who got him into coaching.

Plus, can’t forget his mom was a HS DE/TE coach for 30 years (true story).

I know you’re right about the Fulmer deal and I’m afraid we may wander in that wilderness for a while. I hope not and bringing him back in the fold is a good thing. People who run CPF in the ground simply have no clue just how good he was and how toxic it’s made us for these many years.

Having Fulmer back in the fold helps us tremendously going forward. He has the respect and love of a lot of influential former players and coaches. He's also exceedingly well respected among current coaches and just about everyone that matters in CFB. His presence now may well be the result of a mucked up AD search but however, we got him back, we're fortunate we can use his influence going forward.

We we really think he and Currie are working together?

My guess is there still are some significant issues between the two.

Amazing that after 5 years people are still waiting for butch to break character in a presser.

San Fran fans are going to realize over the next few years that Bill B makes QBs look good not the other way around.

Schefter saying SF now has a QB of the future lol
