Official Jon Gruden Thread XXV

Back to work. I told another poster on here I wouldn’t look at volnation until Wednesday after the game Saturday. That lasted all of 2 hours and now I am right back here while I have way too much work to do because I GOT TO KNOW IT WILL BE OK.

And clearly we won’t really know if it will be ok or not until December. (Jones fired. New coach announced).

Cheers
(until I’m back here reading in an hour. Smh)

It's to the point that even WNML is reacting with bafflement regarding Currie's foot dragging. They say he's being overly cautious, way too much so and think he should have made some kind of statement after South Carolina. They also say there's just no way Butch can return as coach. It's not often you hear of that level of negativity from the station. Someone also said earlier that Jimmy Hyams stated he didn't think Gruden would be the next coach. Jimmy's normal stance is that he will not comment on any future coach as long as he knows the current coach has a job. He's said that for the last 10 years regarding basketball, baseball and football changes. If he's making any comments on new coaching candidates, he knows it's done.

Will West is confused by it, Erik Ainge still thinks Butch is a good football coach blah blah blah and Jimmy Hyams thinks he's a peanut

People have connections and sometimes their information is bad. Maybe they were spun, maybe things changed on the ground? I talked to my UF letterman brother in law Saturday morning and when I asked he said 'Mac is good'. He's not a megabooster but he knows people who know what's up and he got blindsided. Stuff happens. In this thread, we're always going to err on the side that anything suggesting Gruden will be our next coach is accurate until proven otherwise and even then we'll look for an explanation that keeps the dream alive. That's what this thread is about.

.....AND, if people buy into every little thing as fact and the gospel, on an internet message board, then get pissed off and go batchit crazy on everybody, you deserve to be laughed at before being booted.

I am glad we all still have a sense of humor.

I truly believe in better days ahead and that our AD knows what he is doing.

It might not end with Gruden at the podium but it will be significantly better than what we have today.

He is extremely pragmatic and doesn’t placate - that is why you aren’t hearing anything.

In my opinion as well.

I bet Butch's buyout that was reached a couple of weeks ago left an open timeframe so that he could be let go at just the right moment. The info that docvol got was probably that they had reached the right moment. We all saw the ball starting down the hill yesterday. I think it was due to the assistant coaches having an issue.

Beaver came in at 2am and mentioned a problem. But people want spoonfed. Swain said this morning 5million instead of the full buyout # of 8+. But noone reads my previous posts....

Butch was worse than Currie expected, throwing his timeline into disarray, and now he is stuck like...

I'm actually believing this. Remember that pic of Currie at Kentucky? Almost like you could read his mind saying "I can't believe he screwed this up and lost and is going to draw even more attention to us right now..." when he wanted to be under the radar for a little while longer.

This place is a mad house right now but trust me, everything going behind the scenes is going our way.

Would you rather be a hero or the cause of massive fiscal problems?

Things must have really got out of hand in here. Stupid job responsibilities making me miss the good stuff. Gotta feed the kids though. Who ran DTO off? WHO WON'T WEAR THE RIBBON?

It was not good stuff. You didn't miss anything.

I think Currie is working on the solution. I doubt it is that easy when no one wants to do it.

I guess your theory could be the case...but that reflects very poorly on Currie. If Butch's buyout was done two weeks ago, and it's been reported that Currie has been on the field for every practice over the past couple weeks, why go in and ask the assistant coaches who wants to be interim a few hours before Butch is let go? Shouldn't he have already had that in place? I could see all the assistants rallying around Butch and saying we would rather him stay but again, that should've been worked out earlier than last night.
