Exactly. Interim does nothing for us at this point. Let CBJ take the punches for the rest of the year and maybe scrape a few wins together. Get JG some growing pains. Let him go in December and introduce the new coach the next day. That is the way grown ups do it.
Keeping him longer is the path of least resistance. The chances for a good season are gone; we've already lost to all of our rivals and are going to finish near the bottom of the SEC. Can't change that now.
UT has already started due diligence and is working through intermediaries during the season. Other SEC schools are going to enter the mix soon, and then it will heat up. Texas and VT had a different landscape last year. There's going to be more competition for a small pool of names this year.
How doesn't it?! Recruits are in limbo right now and the negative recruiting must be off the charts
IDK what firing Butch now vs end of season would do for that?
How does firing your coach help the signing class in any way?
The only problem I see, and I've said it before, is the longer he stays silent, the higher the expectations become that he has a big name in his pocket. The longer these Grumors go, the harder it's going to be when Chad Morris is hired.
Honestly, I'm going to be fine with a Brohm, Morris, Wilson hire. I think these are good coaches. However, I know for a fact I'll be in the minority on it when the time comes. People will be outraged.
It seems you'd know better than I, but I'd guess the Board is going to agree this week to move on from Butch at Currie's discretion and Currie will not make a move until we are bowl ineligible. Heck, he may not make a move at all until the end of the season.

I agree... why do you guys think we keep losing recruits every week? This is a big deal and no one is talking about it. Recruits see that Butch is gone, but nothing is official, i can't see many wanting to take a chance to come here with him either gone or his days being numbered. If fired, at least they know what is going to happen moving forward, and they know a new coach/upgrade will be coming in so they can either wait and see or move on... limbo is not good. At this point we will be sacrificing an entire class, we will not end well... then in two years folks will be wondering why there is a gap in talent and will point back to this class... We all know in the SEC, and in our program particularly, we cannot "sacrifice" a class and lose a year of talent...

An interim will also mean they will be in limbo. We can't help the timeline. Gruden would be great because he can come earlier. A sitting coach can't come until December.
Exactly and the hiring of the new coach isn't directly tied to the timing of his departure.
On that front how many sitting coaches that have been mentioned on VN may have been actively recruiting the same players UT has been pursuing?
I imagine UCF for example has not been going after the same players .
