Coasty what is ur opinion on why Currie is waiting to make the announcement? I just don't get it! You seem to be in the know that butch has been notified he is done

I believe he is trying to buy time to work through this interim issue.... I also believe there will be some type of announcement tomorrow but it may include Butch being allowed to coach out the rest of the year..

I don't like that but it just may be where we are on this thing

I know! Yesterday I was giving up state secrets to make him feel better. Today? Zen Coasty.

Well email me then! Actually I'm still around 90%, so not in a panic (as long as something comes out tomorrow), but I'm really stuck on whatever Tuesday's cutoff means (Hawk, Poppa & RO talking about)!

I believe Beaver's information is correct to the best of his knowledge, mainly because it's rational and Atlanta Vol is vetted and MIT can accurately answer some questions.

Con may have not been the right word. I do believe VN and the fans are being used as leverage, and that noone knew how long this timeline would play out (long game). We still don't. UT's various factions are in he middle of high stakes poker. I will say, if I was setting something up and using the name MIT I would be ready to substantiate that, TN fan..check, in LA..check. You see the point.

Something has happened that causes me to proceed cautiously. Again, I'm not an insider.

So is Beaver a troll....I think no....is Beaver a chess piece..Yes!

RagingOrange I hate to rehash

Then it HAS to do something with MNF or an announcement of the new coach coming before next Saturday. That's the only way it literally wouldn't make sense.

Or am I missing something? How else could it literally make no sense?

Maybe I am reading too much into this. I am full on the Grude train. His son's last game is supposedly Friday which he apparently helps coach in some capacity. He wants to finish that season out and if announced before then, he couldn't due to recruiting violations as I understand it. I still think Butch doesn't coach another snap inside Neyland, but if he does, I think the announcement will be made prior to Saturday. Currie knows that it will be a half empty stadium for homecoming if no announcement has been made and Butch is still coaching. If you make the announcement, even if he coaches Saturday, people more likely to come knowing he is on the way out.

Then to take it one step farther down the conspiracy rabbit hole...Gruden announces he is stepping down from MNF for another opportunity, and a week from Tuesday we have the Grude's press conference.

Hey...It can happen

raging orange it looks like you were posting this as i was typing. I'm glad because it proves that my analysis is rational. In the military before every flight in combat you get two versions of the enemy activity.

Mlcoa: Most likely coarse of action
mdcoa: Most dangerous course of action

mlcoa is beaver is correct and using the fanbase to help push the deal and agenda.

Mdcoa: The administration calls their bluff and the ut football program is at square one with no assistance from boosters.

Tifwiw..again, i'm just guy who analyzes every little piece of sand for a place to land when under fire. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don't and land somewhere else.

down the field here you go

If we took Petrino, Brohm would go to L'ville and I would want him to be my plan B for Petrino implosion. As long as Brohm continues to have success that is.

Brohm currently has the same record as captain cliche. Have we not learned anything??

My picks, and in this order until we're categorically told no, would be:

Gruden
Patterson
Peterson
Leach
Mullen
Frost

A few of those would not make a good fit at UT; but they are proven, not brick masons, like what we currently have.

This is football, not a construction site! Guess flat-top never got that memo.

That's not the way I read it. He makes the same either way. Someone posted a spread sheet last week showing the payout over the next few years and it was the same amount every month.

According to the contract link I posted he makes 245,000 a month. That’s 2.94 million a year not including bonuses, perks and fringe. 8000 a day, base, plus benefits, fringe, etc.

His liquidated damages (ie buyout) as of that contract, is 2 million a year. Calculated as remaining full years on contract term starting March 1 x 2 million, then prorating the remaining contract year based on a 365 day calendar year. That’s 5500 a day roughly.

But yes, it’s paid out monthly over the remaining terms of the contract. So if he was fired on Feb 28 of his second to last year, he’d get 2 million/12 every month starting on the following month. So the monthly liquidated damages provision is stable every month, or was before the new contract that some firmly believe he has.

I believe he was trying to secure a deal with the next HC but hasn't yet. And with the lose to KY, plus Florida there was too much pressure to not do something. I don't know why he backed off. Weird.

Also wondering is ESPN is trying to secure the replacement for MNF before official announcement is made?

If he was already scheduled to be a part of upcoming cuts, that’s likely already been in the works.

I get all the Tuesday connections, always thought, for various reasons, it would be this Tuesday even when DTO made his good Tuesday remark. It’s the high school game this Friday that throws me off unless it would not be a recruiting violation as previously discussed due to Jon not being paid staff there.

Maybe this has something to do with mnf since Gruden will already be on location and that would be his main focus. Fire butch tomorrow and after mnf announce Grudenmm

Dont forget when his cohost said "Jay Gruden is the brother of my PRESENT colleauge here"

Indicating a particle of tense...
As in past, present, future
