When you are a head coach you have to 1. Recruit 2. Deal with media 3. Manage your staff 4. COACH 5. Deal with administration 6. Mentor these young athletes. 6. And a bunch of other stuff

High risk hire. He doesn't need the money. He hasn't coached college in decades. Fired from last coaching job as he didn't develop talent. Had strained relationships with players. Will this guy actually be hungry to do the work it takes? 70-80 hour weeks.
