I don't really see how a lame duck coach acts as much of a Safety Patrol. Would have been nice if he was on a ride-along with Kelly the other evening
Beaver and DTO are correct when saying Butch is done. That deal was made almost 4 weeks ago. Reasons that insiders dont need to say for us to see why thats true.
1. Butch Jones hasnt used twitter in over a month.
2. Recruits are not visiting and youll continue to see that until the next staff (saving officials for new staff)
3. AD wont issue a statement supporting jones
Why it is good to keep butch until the new head coach is in place;
Butch is very good at making the kids attend class. Regardless of football he looks out for kids off the field as well. Keeping him through the season helps keep everyone in good standing academically for the new staff.
If you hire an interim and the players go wild and start skipping classes before Christmas break thats a whole new issue that the new staff will have to face.
As much as we as fans want him gone now we have to think about the players and the future of our program. Not the instant gratification of the firing.

Gruden would bring these guys with him.
But wasn't one of the rumors as to why he pushed martin out the door is cause Currie thought a player who kept getting into trouble should've been dismissed from yhe team and martin wouldn't do it
These stupid threads that people think are "funny" are getting out of hand. I wish the mods would step in and create a "Thread of Ridiculous Ignorance" to dump all this crap in. So much trash to wade through.
Dilly dilly.

You would think an alien life form or JC himself was landing in Knoxville with all this chatter about Gruden. Give up on Gruden and go get a coach like Matt Campbell. Too much focus on this nonsense of Gruden when real focus should be on finding a good coach that realistically could be the next Vols HC.
Can we all agree now that no one in this thread is an insider?
The only thing we can believe is what is currently occurring:
1.) Butch is not fired. Chances are, he finishes the season.
2.) Will he be retained next year? Butch seems confident that he has Currie's support.
3.) Has Butch lost the team? Doesn't look like it to me.
4.) Is the University of Tennessee committed to winning? The obvious answer is no.
Spot on. The APR would stand to take a hit if Butch was fired this early. It's not just about the 3.5 hours on Sat. There's a lot that goes to run a program.

Thats one of the reasons that I believe, they will announce his firing but let him coach out the season.
