Being able to name Gruden or Kelly would offset players giving up and the recruiting class bailing. If one of those 2 are actual in the bag, we're free to make an immediate move.

If Jones remains, it's likely we are stalling a mass exodus of recruits until a coaching search is conducted.

I was surprised by the way Wes Rucker put it today:

Tennessee doesn’t have to fire head football coach Butch Jones right now.

Tennessee doesn’t have to be a top-shelf football program, either.

Both situations require a choice. But one is most certainly going to have a direct impact on the other.

You can’t have it both ways. You either keep Jones as your football coach, or you have a top-shelf football program.

One or the other.

LWS (Larry) posted last night that keeping Jones the remainder of the season is his preference. Because he doesn't believe the kids will try as hard for an interim currently on our staff.
Just his opinion of course but signals his side (administration) still isn't leaking/showing any signs of a current deal.

Sometimes I actually wonder if I believe MIT more than others around here that thinks its funny that I think he's trolling.

That seriously can't be his reason for keeping Jones cause if it is then that's a stupid reason

Currie is the man in the chair so we have to look to him but my guess is that right now he is beholden to whoever it was that moved him into the job over Fulmer and Blackburn.

I don't know what team you watched last night, but the team played incredibly hard last night for all four quarters. The only player I didn't see that from is Drew Richmond. The team plays hard for Jones and has heart, I just don't think we are very good.

What good would the "kids trying hard" be if no one is in the stands watching. That's what I see happening.

If there was a team meeting, expect it to begin to leak out. But I beleieb someone posted that he filmed the BJ show before he left Lexington and rode back with a small group which is normal. If he’s not fired today, I’ll be shocked and agree that we may see him all year. I don’t know why and this all seems out of the ordinary when absolutely everyone in the media is saying the same thing. Which leads me to believe there is a bigger reason he hasn’t fired him. Or, Currie really is incompetent and we should’ve hired Blackburn.

I would be glad to have a change or a visible move in the right direction today or tomorrow. However, I would not be surprised if Butch finished the season. As much as that feels like torture for the fans, I think it would be wrong to assume that nothing is “happening” because he is still the coach.

I don't necessarily think it does. I think it gives us an idea of whatever we want to believe. I'm still trying to figure out what I believe.

I like Larry and I think he gets alot of unwarranted criticism. That said, he's admitted he doesn't get info like he used to, therefore I just don't pay much attention to him. If you know what I mean.

Two top 5 classes and two top 15 classes on this roster. The team is good, just poorly developed and forced to play in a system that does not capitalize on their individual strengths.

Think they filmed Dooley the night before he was fired but not sure

I thought they played hard for the most part. I do think there are a couple of players that look like they are either not playing hard or are consistently lost, not sure which & not gonna name names. I wonder if they're playing hard for Jones or maybe for their position coaches & teammates.
