You, yes you, are the consumer. You want change but don't think the admin will do it? Make them. It's that simple. Stop paying for and physically going to games. They will be forced to make a change. Free market society is the way of the free world. Don't believe me? Try it....

As Lee Corso says "Not so fast my friend". Been going to UT games on and off since my first one, 1965. Even got a diploma somewhere it Ed Bolings signature on it.

What am I supposed to do? Go to Bama games because they are winning?

Just turn it off. Don't buy tickets and don't give them ratings. Vote with your wallet.

OP you really think its that simple dont you?

Think of it as being robbed and being served a crap sandwich. Lol One must take his orange tinted glasses off and see it for what it is.

But for many it's about the players and for many its about the administration and butch. The administration hides behind these kids robbing fans of their $. My glasses are off

Exactly and all the old heads that come up with the but I always go or I’m supporting the players not the coach excuses are the reason we are where we are. The current administration banks on the idiots that will show up no matter what and will continue to go for the budget coach over a winning coach. Why pay a guy $5-8 mil a year when you can pay another guy 2-3 and the seats will still be full?

They don’t really look at the big picture of 20-30 yrs down the road when the football team is only known as a Minnesota or Vanderbilt and the fans won’t be there to fill 100,000+ seats. They also have no clue the amount of money a championship program can generate because they’ve never been a part of one. Either that or they have already contracted out the licensing rights to the school to a company for the next decade so win or lose they get the same regardless if merchandise sells.

I was talking to my wife saying we should attend next week, because I am concerned the stadium will be empty if Butch remains the coach.

you don't need to do that. Jones will not be coaching Tennessee in 2018

The people who think they are supporting the players by coming to the games no matter what are actually doing the exact opposite. You're effectively voicing support for the players to be coached by a man who has thus far shown he is consistently unable to create an environment for the majority of his players to be successful on the field. What's he doing is giving most of his players a bad resume for NFL scouts. It's therefore robbing them of potential income that could have been earned by having a competent coach giving his players direction and said environment to thrive and show everyone their talent. Want to help the players? Fire Butch and bring in a person who can make them successful in their future football careers.

We need to get the admins attention. Either go watch a horrible team, or give the program dome tough love in hopes of an upgrade

He's right, it is that simple.

Great example, gaming consoles, when the Xbox One and PS4 were announced XBO came out and said no game sharing, also no trading games in unless through an authorized vendor, also a daily connection login so your xbox would work.

Now this pissed off a lot of gamers, and a lot of xbox 360 players jumped ship to ps4 because ps4 went the total opposite way, allowed game sharing, no daily connection login, and could trade games in, and with that Xbox lost a ton in sales.

Literally a few weeks later, xbox did a complete 180 on their stance, but by then it was too late

So if fans stopped showing up and buying merchandise then AD would have no choice but try and do what the fans want, when revenue is being lost, big wigs tend to start listening to the consumer, i.e the fans, so yes it's that simple

I understand the notion and it’s reasonable and idealistic and makes sense, but it will never ever happen. This is personal and emotional for us. Not really comparable to a video gaming system. There is no substitute we can turn to. We are fans in good times and bad. And honestly right now that’s about all TN has going for it is it’s fan base. Imagine the recruits and coaches you’d get from a TN team with a half full stadium, no annual income and no corporate sponsorships. I think it’s a good notion but it won’t happen. And IMO it would prob hurt more than it helped. We should have an AD that cares enough not to put us in this conversation in the first place.

There is a substitute... it's called the other 129 FBS teams. Being a fan is just brand loyalty to an extreme. Not saying you shouldn't be a fan or switch teams but just pointing it out lol. #economicsdegree

The other teams is certainly suggesting I switch teams. What kind of fan would that be? Brand loyalty to an extreme? That seems kinda sterile. I’m way more invested than that. Around here we call y’all fair weather fans.

So should I become a Bama fan since they are winning? Or just switch to Vandy and keep in in State?
