If you remember when Martin left UT that I had info on a basketball coach and was very confident of interest but Martin wasn't gone yet. I was laughed at but then that coach did take another job and was looking. Timing wasn't right for UT.

That was real info I had that one time. I know some other folks who told me change was coming after Georgia game. Today from an unexpected source I was told this. First I was telling them not to laugh but I thought Gruden was a possibility. They said they were not laughing because the guy he knows said he is at the top of their list. Also, Butch is gone for sure so that is good. He said Chip Kelly was more like 4th or 5th. However, Frost is next after Gruden. Then he threw a curve. Charlie Strong is up there next. This guy that told me this has connections thru another sport in D1 everywhere. I believe him. TIWIW.

Don't want ecred. Good news is Jones is done and will not be back. Gruden is real and they are going after him so explains smoke but I don't think it's a done deal. Frost next. Not sure how I feel about Strong.

Strong would make a lot of people unhappy but I'm telling you he would do well at TN. He can get the premier kids from S, Florida to come to Knoxville like he did Louisville. He couldn't do that at TX. He has a a lot connections in this state as well. Always thought he was stupid going to TX. He belongs in southeast where his base is. He has himself a good OC now.

Only reason I don't want it to be him is just the backlash from people that don't what the guy is all about and what made him successful everywhere but TX.

I wouldn't hate it at all but I know a lot would

I would love him but he would have to get off to an very good start or the fans would be unmerciful to him.

I wouldn't hate the hire, but doubt he would leave USF after 1 season. He would have to make good coordinator hires for sure. That goes for anyone hired though.

Yep I think he would be able to get back to that Florida style defense he had as a coordinator at TN. The players in the area are here to do that. Not all those TX ball softies

Some boosters are all in on Gruden and AD is in full hush mode. The interpretation of the hush is up for debate. The positive interpretation is positive.

He can run a defense. Texas was a stupid move. I think I like him better than mike bobo's and brohm's and durkans of the world. Needs a great QB and OC coach. Just know it's true we are going after Gruden hard

It’s amazing how quickly a team can lose confidence and a season starts to snowball. Florida State looks just like Tennessee at the moment. Just a team that can’t seem to do anything right.

I think this is more of an argument against Nebraska than for it. Same argument as why Peyton would never wanna coach here.


The main reason I’m not sure Frost ends up at Nebraska is because the recruiting grounds there aren’t great. One of the reasons he waited and chose UCF to become a HC at was because he wanted to be somewhere he could easily recruit the athletes he needs in his system. I’m not sure Nebraska offers that and that he’d want his image soiled there if things don’t go well for him.


Not saying Frost will be our coach next year, but I don’t think it’s a sure thing he’ll end up there. He’ll have a lot of options on where to coach next year not just Nebraska or UT.

Agreed. Id go strong before I would that next group.....I'd have to get Nos from Gruden, Kelly, Frost, Fisher and Mullen first though

What in the hello is Jumbo doin down there? Did he just go full Phil and get lazy and entitled? I mean this makes no sense, the man has shown himself to be better than competent as a head coach...this is mystifying.
