No doubt who our coach is next year is extremely important for the future but I am excited about tomorrow for another reason. I think it is a huge huge day for JG. If he is going to be a star like we all hope we need him to make some plays tomorrow and start showing some development. He's proven his competitiveness and toughness now it is time for him to prove he can make big plays. Much like Dobbs did against those same ole Cats in his freshmen year we need to see JG do it tomorrow.

I just don't underestimate the dumpster fire that is our AD especially when it comes to hiring what will be our FOURTH since Fulmer but ok you keep hoping Gruden or Kelly or Patterson is going to suddenly come riding in on a white horse and save us.

We need to hire someone that the fanbase (generally) respects on Day 1. If not, whoever is hired will be eaten alive from Day 1. It won't be pretty.

Curious, did you respect Butch on day 1? If so, has that changed and why?

Can't be a coincidence that the people who told me in August that this team was going to compete for the East and get Butch an extension are the firmest believers of Grumors.

The definition of realistic is such a moving target. I'll say that I think Gruden and Kelly are realistic, because their individual circumstances seem to line up. If they end up saying no to an offer, does that subsequently make them unrealistic? I don't think so- it's hard to know personal preferences for each of these guys, but if UT is willing to make an offer to Gruden, and he thinks about it and says no, or approaches Kelly, but he really wants to be out west, I think it's ludicrous to call them "unrealistic."

That said, I know you are looking for a list, so I'll say my top 3 "realistic" hires- whatever that means- are Fuente, Frost and Schiano.

I might get flamed for this and he wouldn't be my first pick but I think Mike Bobo would be a pretty good hire. He has a ton of SEC experience as a player and a coordinator and is a safer bet to succeed in the SEC than other G5 coaches.

Most of which is irrelevant to the discussion. We have zero basis for prediction, since we've never seen a coach hired by the currently assembled team. John Currie was around when Kiffin was hired (which was pretty sexy at the time), but he is now AD and is presumably getting input from Peyton.

Which I agree with. Just wanted to play newt's fun little game.

If anyone is getting wrapped up in ancient history, it's those saying that UTAD is going to muck it up. They very well may, but you have to start with some sort of clean slate, because circumstances and some of te players have changed.
