I am calling Gruden, Butch fired after KY, interim for S. Miss and Gruden talks en fuego by mizzou.

Call your shot

Butch somehow manages to beat KY, Vandy, and Mizzou and Currie gives him a raise and an extension. We continue to be the national embarrassment in college football so that our AD can save some money. Next year ticket sales are lowest in TN history as Butch leads us to 3-9. He is fired, and Bronco Mendenhall is hired as head coach.

Butch coaches the rest of the season. Resigns. Long grueling coaching search, turned down several times. Satterfield introduced in January.

Hope I'm wrong. Butch finishes the year and we hire another unproven mid major coach. Our recruiting class falls apart and we drop below 50 in the rankings.

Gruden talks amount to nothing

Frost interviews, but boosters afraid of experience, he goes on to become a Top 10 coach in CFB

Boosters play safe and get Mullen, who keeps TN rotating through the top 3 of the SEC East, averaging a division title every 4 years.

AD is happy because Tennessee is respectable as a top 20 program again, but Vols do not regain elite status except for appearances in the top 10 every three years

Nice hypotheticals...

Well, he asked for it. This is the way I see it, and I don’t think it’s far fetched.

You, of course disagree on Frost. What about my thoughts on Mullen?

I know not directed at me but; Solid 8/9 wins every year, with 10+ and a trip to Atlanta every third or fourth year sounds extremely likely under Mullen. Would be a good solid hire IMO but I agree he probably wouldn’t be elite.

It obviously would be an upgrade.

Frost... Not enough experience. He may be a good coach at a major, top echelon school someday but IMHO UT needs an absolute homerun hire to catapult above relevancy and compete for championships. UT can’t afford a coach that “could be” some day. They need a proven coach from the NFL or a major P5 college program. Anybody else and we’ll be having these same threads/discussions in another 5-7 yearsbecause they’ll never be able to vault above Smart and the steam he/they are gaining.

Mullen. Overrated. I understand that’s my opinion but Smart and potentially whomever UF hires after McElwain would run circles around Mullen. He is an 8-4/9-3 coach and would not want the pressure that would result from never getting to the SECCG.

It’s easy. Two names...

Gruden (I know... 🙄🤦🏼) and C. Kelly

If both of them say no (which could happen) then enjoy supporting mediocrity. I won’t be around to watch another debacle. I won’t be a bandwagon fan of some other school. I will drop football altogether. The NFL wreaks with all of the socio-political nonsense with the anthem, etc. Will be very easy to drop CFB if UT screws up yet a 3rd hire.

Funny that you say we need someone proven and then go on to mention Smart multiple times

I think you’re a little intoxicated. Get well soon

Alabama salaries

Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll $1.3m
Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt $1.2m
OLB & Co-Defensive Coordinator Tosh Lupoi $950k
Strength & Conditioning Scott Cochran $535k

Add in 7 more assistants who are top of the line & great recruiters - pay them each an average of $788k and it all adds up to $9.5m. OR it may be that some of the staff funding is for an "army" of analysts - members of the FFCA, perhaps.

Alabama currently spends something like $56m on football operations every year. We spend around $28m, about $10 of which is for staff salaries. If we boost our spending to $38m we can cover this bill and still be getting off cheap. jmo.

Surely intelligent decision makers at UT are having this conversation

I’d like to think that, but they are probably only thinking of how to maximize profits to add more bricks and brushed aluminum to our structures

Frost . Butch drives his own car to Lexington and drives home . Coach Hoke finishes out gets to bowl game.
Fast forward to Sec media day. During coaches photo session he leans down and whispers in Saban's ear "Now go get your shine box".

If you can’t talk yourself into believing, your football experience is going to suck over the next 3-5 years.

I’ll have no choice but to believe even a stuffed piñata is about to take over the East

I agree Nick. Everybody who says that they are done if we hire so and so, is full of so and so. There is no way that our passionate fans, and especially us on this board, are not going to support the team, and either hope that they are wrong about the coach or like you said, simply believe.
