I hear ya -- but sometimes high reward comes with high risk. You're a Frost guy. If his system were to work in the SEC the way it is at UCF, that would be a huge reward. If it doesn't and SEC defenses are too good for it, which I believe is quite possible and even likely... then it would be a complete flop.
I would imagine ADs and big money boosters would prefer less risk in this type of investment.
Unfortunately, as we know, there are no clear no brainers right now. Coaching searches nowadays are a product of lucky timing as much as anything
Its not certain but I feel there is enough there to roll with Frost
That statement is setting you up for the same response.. and then lost to an SEC team.. is what they will say.
Agree. If Gruden flopped, it would be hard to point at the AD and/or boosters for not trying and getting the homerun that everyone seemingly wanted most.
He exibited some very poor lack of judgment on twitter and now is without a job. Seems pretty simple we got lucky. If he got a raw deal he should get hired any minute now. With his twitter skills maybe The Donald will hire him.
Scott Frost has been exposed for many years to offensive systems that are different than the one he is using at UCF. Some of you are undervaluing his coaching intelligence IMO. He played in the league under some of the very best.
The quickest way for him to succeed at UCF is doing what he is doing with the existing roster and recruits he could secure in a short period of time. There is zero question in my mind that he would adapt the O to the roster he has and recruits he can secure at UT.
The point is, Frost's offense is not a sure thing to work in the SEC. And if it didn't, it would be a huge flop. That makes hiring him very risky imo.
The issue of his offense is on top of his overall lack of experience as a HC.
