For those not reading between the lines Blackburn was all but signed. Haslam said here’s Currie. It seems plenty of others are ready to pull out donations if this hire isn’t substantial. It seems all big boosters are getting on board because they realized they had to. No more d... measuring on this hire.

I’m guessing Peyton has been the mediator of those big guns. Only man who could imo

I’ve not been a big proponent of Mullen to UT, but that is a very compelling stat, especially considering that he has done this during much of a period when the SECw was the dominant division in the country.

Well...............he made a bowl last year at 5-7. He also has been coach while Arkansas, Auburn, and Ole Miss all had horrific seasons. It goes both ways.

I think you’re confused. We are talking about Jim Haslam. Big Jim the owner of the Browns.

Bill while having what I assume is major power with the state university is not who Atl was referring imo. It was Jim

Wait I thought Big Jim was the dad and he has the influence at UTK.

Jim is his son and owner of the Browns.

Think you got your Jim's mixed up.

Boosters can threaten to pull $$ all they want but we all know when it comes to whoever new coach is they will be back giving $$ for that access

I’m posting these comments from ATL because Volatil said he learned who he was through the donations and could verify he was as inside as inside gets in case anyone was wondering why I was posting them. From the sound of things and his writing he seems to be a pretty high level one as well.

He talked about playing golf at the Honors Course with some friends/family of Bob Stoops before the OU game in 2015. He is certainly connected and a good guy.

I may have. Too many Jim’s not enough Grudens

No problem. I'm a transplant here so I admit I haven't been a life long UT fan. I've been one for about 10 years and try to educate myself and soak everything in.

Here's how I understand it:

Big Jim: father of Jim and Governor Bill Haslam. Played at IT for General Neyland

Jim: CEO of Pilot and owner of Cleveland Browns. Also has a son named Jim

Sounds like it. Atlanta Vol said someone in his neck of the woods blew up the Blackburn deal. I inferred that as Chattanooga, which would be Thornton.

I thought he was saying my neck of the woods like my giving circle. Could be what you guys are saying though.

So who is Thornton? Was just reading about him, and saw he's from Maryville, same as me. He's several years older tho. Is he a big time donor?

I can't remember if it was Thornton or Anderson heck maybe it was both. But one of those dudes not named haslam was against Blackburn because of an old vendetta regarding Dooley vs Wittingham hire
