I shared that yesterday from a poster on VQ. Lots of questioning him on VQ so he explained his buddy is a coach at a D1 school and was contacted by Gruden to be on his staff at UT and he shared the text screenshot, TIFWIW...

I mean, this could definitely be a troll who got his friend to text him, right?

Screenshot of text is Butch to one of his buddies about his next job. The name blurred out looks like jimmy to me.😂

I am not, truly. I had read some stuff on Twitter, from Coleman Thomas and some others supporting him and talking about how much he gave to the program. My statement was a kneejerk reaction to my immediate feelings regarding the fact that Coach Jones is likely to send us to our first 8 loss season ever. I never should have said it.

I understand.

Or the faux-country boys who drive $50k trucks around at 2mph and don't know how to park.

My wife went to Ole Miss, much much worse on that front. MSU really does have some legitimate country folk though. I had a plant breeding class in the AG department and watched people walk in in boots decked in carhart and I began questioning where the hell I was. I was really impressed with them academically. They knew their stuff.

I think Frost has the highest ceiling. I'd be cool with all 3 though. If we're going to get Frost we better get busy with it.

I think both Mullen or Frost would have the ability to get us to the college football playoff. I'm not trying to exaggerate their ability as much as say I believe this program can get there with 20-25 current college coaches.

Both are very young and could make us contenders for a long stretch of time.

I don't think I could handle Ole Miss to be honest. The first frat bro in a bow tie that smarted off to me in class would lead me to do something that would get me fired.

Anyone else think Memphis (-11) vs Tulane and ND (-7.5) vs NC State are easy picks? Both are at home. Memphis is coming off a huge comeback win on the road at Houston and ND is coming off that curb-stomping of USCw.

I think USCw is over-rated and NC state might have the DL talent to slow down the ND running attack. I think it ends up being a slow scoring game like UGA-ND so giving up a full TD is a lot.

I'm with you there. Jones won 9 two years in a row and he's well below average at this level. I'd be very confident that either Frost or Mullen would at the very least take it to the next level.

Got to love how all of the insiders come out of the woodwork during a coaching search.

Yes, but how do you become an insider without a search? People who have info in a coaching search don't work for the AD or have sources within the AD. The AD doesn't want it out. The sources come from the coach's side, and the insiders don't exist without a search.

And I think Brohm is a great coach as well. His ceiling may be a little lower but I think he would have us competing for the East every season. He does not get out-schemed.

You were surprised AG students wore Carhart and boots?
