I'm starting to think we end up with Matt Campbell. Wouldn't be a bad hire, but I don't think it would excite anyone.

Not sure if this has been posted but Dennis Dodd reported last night that Scott Frost is planning to go to Nebraska if offered.

A few people on the Nebraska 247 board did mention that if they had to get into a bidding war with a Tennessee or Texas A&M they couldn't compete.

One question before we play KY Saturday- Can we use some of Miss St's points against KY from last week since Mullen will be our next coach?

That's probably true but he'd take less money to coach at Nebraska. Just my opinion.

If we want him we need to get to him before the Nebraska job opens.

Ziti,

It really is simple. I misremembered how low the hit was.
After going to twitter I tried to edit the post before it was read to keep this from happening. I even posted the play because others wanted to see it.
I was wrong about it being low but it doesn't change anything else I posted as the play was 100% dirty. More importantly it doesn't change that Gruden called DB out for the play and very Hashly at that. I bet he gets a hefty fine as well .

When did they start fining for blocks in the back? There was nothing dirty about the play. Just effort and an ordinary penalty missed by the officials.

If we hire Dan Mullen, get ready in year two for Butch 2.0. I said yesterday, if he is so good, why hasn't someone else scooped him up yet? Exactly.
Just because he changes his zip code doesn't mean he will be able to recruit or coach at a higher level than he already is...
Typical UT, every other program will do what is necessary, and we will settle once again. Another dud will equal mediocrity for the next 10 years. No winning the east and certainly no SEC championships.... just year after year of getting beat by FL, GA, and AL and heading to a mid-tier bowl. Stop, repeat, Stop, repeat... Vanilla boring blah.

Blocks?

Hmmmm. I wonder if How a defensive player blocks is considered to be a "football skill" when there isn't a TO?

Yes, you can but the paperwork is a pain in the &%# and I'm not sure if it's worth the time and effort.

We don't appear to be moving with any sort of haste. Not sure if that's a good sign or bad.

We could certainly do worse than Dan Mullen. I am ok with it if he is the backup plan. He knows the conference and has coached in big games. He would have better talent at his disposal at UT. He may not win an SEC title, but he would have us playing and winning the East every couple of years.

I do know that MSU fans have gotten a little impatient with him keeping his OL coach, who is a longtime friend. They have wanted a change with that position.

Also, Mullen hasn't left because his wife apparently loves it in Starkville. At some point though, you have to realize that you can't win anything of significance at MSU.

I don’t think so. Just like the report you referenced I am pretty sure some other credible media person said he knows it would be an uphill climb to be able to recruit the athletes he needs to Nebraska. I think he would listen out of respect but I think personally he would take an SEC job over Nebraska. JMO though.
