And to clarify, I don't think the battle over control is being fought because new coach is making unreasonable demands. I think it's a core philosophy struggle between University and the outside interests over how the academic side interacts with the athletic side, and whether academic side should predominate. I think the case being made on the athletic side is that a rising tide raises all boats. When athletics excels, it helps academics.
This is my theory tol. Butch has signed a release agreement with contingencies based on W-L, but no later than day after a bowl game if there is one. So theoretically there is an opening allowing a MOU to be signed with contract date language effective the day after the last Monday night football game.
