He would bring his current DC chinander. Viewed as a rising star in profession apparently. Has some college and NFL experience. UCF his first shot as a DC. Been wth Frost a while. They play tough on d very multiple.

Hope they would keep Warren. Looking at UCF defensive stats the passing yards allowed is the the furthest they fall in the rankings, 61st I think it was. Warren could help out that aspect.

When your team is ahead so much the passing yards against is slanted to the negative. I would throw that stat out

It's the worst team I've ever seen at Tennessee. The only team that comes close is '08 to me.

Who has Butch beaten from the top 25 in his last 11 games?

OK. Trying to think through that one. His younger players/recruits become more experienced in the future. Are you saying they will regress when that happens?

Kirby's success came much quicker than it could have because of his roster. Kirby might have gotten to this point anyway, but his success this year absolutely has to do with his roster. It was laid out there perfectly because he had so many veteran players in year two.

That's why "Butch year 5" and "Kirby year 2" are apples and oranges. Not saying Butch is good by any means, but Kirby started with much more of a stacked deck.

Austin Smith needs to just sit out the rest of the season, he hasn't played yet, and that would be a wasted year for him to go in now. I didn't know Sapp was hurt, does anyone know what is his status?

Smith has already taken a redshirt. Not sure it matters.

That’s fair, but I still would want to keep Warren if Frost and his DC came here. Has former DC experience and is a solid coach.

You've been trolling with this for a couple of weeks

Not trolling - It might not happen. I have just been told not to be surprised if Petrino is the next coach at UT. I have never advocated for him. I have only said do not be surprised. I am not a troll.

Would rather keep Shoop and bring in Chinander as LB coach.

You won’t hear any complaints from me about keeping Shoop. I just don’t think Frost would demote his DC to keep Shoop. If we hire someone that doesn’t have a DC to bring I hope we keep Shoop.

I remember a many on here grasping to lower expectations (7 or 8 wins) with Jones losing talent to the NFL. IIRC Harbaugh lost twice as many and returned only 5 starters from last year.

Funny you say this. A local radio producer here in Memphis is a Michigan guy, and he said this morning that he had Michigan pegged at 8-4 this year. He said people need to slow the roll on the severe criticism of Harbaugh.

That's the only ? With Frost. I think Chinander would be smart to come in and learn under Shoop then when Shoop leaves promote Chinander

I also remember the asinine argument that we'd be 9-3,10-2 this year from a lot of posters, despite all the talent we lost.

"This team will play better without all the hype & expectations"

Got it and agree he started at a better situation than Butch. The only thing I can point out is all on the roster are Butch's guys and he's never gone 7-0 to start a season with a clear path to the SECCG. He was well on his way last season but stumbled badly when it mattered. Actually got two huge breaks in two games to go 5-0 to start the season when UGA has not struggled in most games and beat a strong ND team on the road. So I guess I would answer that I equate Butch's 4th season with Kirby's 2nd season due to both roster condition and coaching.

Doubt a dumb coach could accomplish what Smart is doing.

I remember specifically one reputable poster:

"This staff likes what it has. They like that they're under the radar this year."

It was being sold behind the scenes that Dormady was an alpha, and the talented young players were being developed better with the coaching changes.
