I have a hard time believing they are going to let Butch trot out on the field in Neyland again.

Kentucky away game makes sense. He can drive his own car up there so it won’t be awkward afterwards.

Anyone that was surprised Butch is still around wasn’t listening and had false expectations.

This AD won’t operate like that.

He could lose to Kentucky and still coach the week after.

This AD has a plan and he is executing it.

It isn’t on your timetable or with knee-jerk reactions.

Considering what you know about the people (specifically person) involved, is this based on something you have been told or just previous understandings based on the past?

Bobo could be decent. He knows what it takes to win in the SEC and had some really good offenses at UGA. He would need to hire a good staff but I think he knows that. He’s still way down the list of people we should contact.

Does he run a typical pro set like CMR?

Bobo would achieve nothing Butch hasn't.

It's coming into sharp focus just how this thing is going to go. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

People keep overestimating the admin and boosters' involvement in this process. Right now, it's the UTAD at work. Currie isn't oblivious; he's just doing things his way, on his timeline.

Currie was around when Fulmer was let go midseason, I think he remembers the mess that situation caused and is trying to avoid it. Everybody knows Butch is a dead man walking but keeping him until the end of the year may save a few headaches the last month of the year. I think Butch could lose every game left and still coach the last gake of the year against vandy then he will be let go

Does his timeline include allowing the football team, recruits, and fans burn to the ground while he waits and waits to execute his perfect plan? Butch acting like everything is just fine is making fans more angry. He is a hated man right now, right or wrong.

The University of Dysfunction.

Opposing posters should reconsider attacking those that express their frustration with Currie and the boosters response to this football travesty. As fans they have earned the right to express their opinion as much as they want IMO.

Oh yes. Butch going into Neyland vs vandy at 3-8 would be something to behold.

With Mac getting death threats at UF that can’t make their fan base look good. If he leaves they will still somehow get a home run hire. SMDH.

Looking more and more like this is going to play out like you've written. As I think about successful mid-season firings, they work better when you have a beloved coach on the staff that can rally everyone to stay focused for the rest of the year. Ogeron at LSU is an example, even Fulmer taking charge when Majors went into the hospital is similar (not trying to restart that debate, lol). We don't have that guy on the staff. Jones has been here longer than all the other coaches under him and none of them have any ties to UTK beyond this job. So even though I wanted Jones gone after Florida, the fact is things could be even worse off the field and not just pathetic on the field.
