You guys want to believe so bad that you’ll believe anything. MIT was emphatic that Gruden was a done deal this week. He even gave financial specifics of the deal.

Look at John Currie. Read his body language. You really think he’s already signed Gruden?

I understand your desire for change but don’t be stupid. You’re setting yourself up for a huge disappointment.

He looks like he just found someone spiking the Gatorade with eye drops.

He just looks like he watched his team get their a$$es handed to them and knows how uncompetitive we were. Only difference between him and the rest of us is that he can do something about it.

His body language just says what we are all thinking. "I hate this state and all these bandwagon mouth breathers with a passion."

And I suppose you're just such a realist that you've never had a dream?..so inspiring

There’s a huge difference in having a dream and in blindly following “insiders” on a message board. The problem isn’t in having a dream- it’s in setting yourself up for the disappointment that will follow when you find out you’ve been misled.

If you honestly think Gruden has signed and is coming - then NOONE else is going to satisfy you. So, when the next coach (not named Gruden) is named, he’s already starting with a faction of the fan based mad and pissed off bc he’s not Gruden.

suppose we hire gruden and he tanks his first two or three years.....what then?

The Grude would not tank in college football. His name alone would bring in massive amounts of talent. He wouldn't even have to recruit, just like Saban. He is a very personable guy and all his former players love him. Gruden would be a HUGE success in college football. IF he wants to be.

An open letter to John Curry:

Dear Mr. Curry,

Find us a football coach. Find us a football coach who knows how to win. Find us a football coach who can beat the teams we're supposed to beat. Find us a football coach who can beat some of the teams we're not supposed to beat and fight to the end in our losses. Find us a football coach that won't be a 37 point underdog to bama, and still lose on the spread. Southern Miss, Missouri, Kentucky and Vandy should NEVER have Tennessee circled on the calendar as a probable win.

I don't have to have Jon Gruden or Chip Kelly. But give us a coach who can put a good product on the field and be competitive every week. I'd like this coach to go to press conferences and just answer questions and not make up slogans. But you know what, if he's winning, I don't care.

I won't have a say in the selection of the next coach, nor should I. But I, like many fans are counting on you to make the right decision. Do the fans have to come into Neyland and wave white flags to show they've had enough? Just find us a football coach. I'm over Butch Jones.

signed,

a lifelong Tennessee Vols fan.

end/rant

Peyton gm
Gruden hc
Jim bob oc (explains why Gruden might reach out to him)
Butch special teams

All these have been rumored...

This would suck but could be great for the browns. I certainly hope not

One more time folks....

Meet the Haslam family:

Daddy is Big Jim, he owns UTK, is the big money donor and is in his mid 80’s.

One son is Jimmy (Little Jim), he and wife Dee own the Cleveland Browns.

One son is Bill, he’s our Governor and was once Mayor of Knoxville.

If you’re going to spout off about the family, at least get the right ones attached to the diatribe.

Why would we need a coach in hand before we named an interim? Let Hoke run the show until the ride ends (in a bowl or not) and name your coach whenever the deal is done, whether it's Nov. 4 or Jan. 2.

Why couldn't this go into motion now?

Here is a question for LWS- If we made a “Saban-esque” offer, and he rejected based on the grounds of not wanting to ruin friendships, what is left to offer top tier coaches?

Saban had a few reasons besides money to go to Bama, but money was the main reason. Gruden has a few reasons to choose Knoxville besides money, and apparently the money was there. So, what is not attractive about this job?
