What statistics prove Miles would be a homerun hire? Why'd he get fired then? Because his offense/qb's sucked and he couldn't get out of his own way late in games. Sound like anyone?Ok. What are we looking for in a coach? I think we can all agree on a few important things. Player development, X's and O's, great recruiter and proven success on the biggest stage, like the SEC. Please provide proof that Miles doesnt fit all of those better than just about any other coach out there.
Also, how do you know Miles hasnt changed since being fired? You dont. The only reason Miles ended up looking bad was a few bad hires and Nick Saban. If Saban never came to Bama, Miles would have probably dominated the SEC. Miles is a home run hire. And statistics prove that.
Les. Miles.
What about Gundy from Oklahoma State as a possible head coach? Gundy played at Ok State, so there may be some difficulty getting him away from his school.
UT needs to hire a coach PROVEN successful on the national level. Since 2008, Gundy and Oklahoma State have been ranked in the end of the year top 25 7 times, including #3 in 2011. He has won one conference championship. Since 2006 the Cowboys have won 7 of their 11 bowl games. If he can be successful in the shadow of OU and Texas, he should be able to do well with UTs resources.
Matt Campbell-Solid Xs and Os guy, did great things at Toledo that I witnessed first hand and now doing solid things at Iowa State.
Give him great recruiters and assistants and I think he could do big things at Tennessee
Or just hire Gruden

Now...understanding I'd place Les Miles about 6th or 7th on my list, I'm still confident he's a big time coach. Offense never has been a function of his coaching tenure. With proper qb development, I think some of those great WR recruits he could bring in would remove that stigma. Les, as have quite a number of coaches, has made some dubious choices as to coaches for his passing offenses. That's all. I've seen almighty Saban make some boo boos managing the clock and pulling out poor calls. It's all that talent that's bailed him out. Winning the SECw and a natty aren't flukes. As for Les's being too old: Apparently you're too young to wrap your mind around what you've not yet experienced. Hopefully you will...in time. Keep in mind that Bob Stoops isn't too old to have forgotten how to beat alabubba. Look at his record versus the bleeding tide.so you don't agree he's too old, what about lack of qb development and offensive production? What about horrible clock mgmt. and in-game decisions?
My question is, If we did go after Cambell, would he actually go out and get a proven staff or just stay loyal to his current staff.. because we all know Robert G. needs to be retained. He is probably one of the best RB coaches in the country and an excellent recruiter.

thanks, Big Ol' Orange Train! Can you believe all the "Bring on Butch #2" crowd dissing proven championship winners...as if those "experts" actually understand the dynamics of CFB coaching? I'd take Miles, or Stoops or Kelly or Fuente (Gruden's not in it) for that matter, in a blink.Ok. What are we looking for in a coach? I think we can all agree on a few important things.
