The Hutch information is good .. imo... it means we are still in negotiation... maybe the Browns thing is real, maybe someone else, .... it does tell me Gruden is still talking

I always thought there were 3 different Haslam folks out there.

1 son owns the state as Governor
1 son owns the Cleveland Browns

1 is Daddy and owns UTK

I don't think Currie's even working Gruden. I don't think that would start until Butch is fired. I think there's some preliminary stuff going on with the big guys in the back ground.

Wow, I'm just 90 pages behind. I started reading, to catch up, and said screw it. The stupidity and drama were just to much. The "trappers" trying to catch the Beaver, got old in a hurry. So, are we on again, off again? Are the NG's still in and the OG's out? Could I get a Preacher Gif summary? What did I miss? Ha, just kiddin.

My use of Currie does not actually mean I think he is involved in anyway that could be connected to him....

But simply back room conversation and feelers that most believe are going on

Having caught up on this thread, my thoughts:

-It is absolutely hilarious that when reliable people like JAV, LWS and Hutch say Gruden is interested, people want to believe them. But when Gruden is off the table, all of the sudden they are lying, misinformed, or it's a smokescreen. It makes no sense at all for them to cover anything up by saying Gruden turned down the job. If anything, the story is gonna be that they are not talking to anybody, because they have a head coach already.

-if Gruden wants to go to the Browns, don't blame Haslam. He's not stealing him from under our noses. It's probably because Gruden just does not want to coach college football.

-that being said, Haslam is a big, big problem and most likely the reason UT athletics is in the state it's in, and why we probably won't have a big name coach while he is around. He is a cancer. But how do you get rid of him? No way anybody is gonna say "No thanks, you can keep your money and take your power."

-I truly believe there is no 100% plan in place to fire Butch right now. I think its still up in the air, believe it or not. I do not trust Currie. I think he is a Haslam guy. If we had a coach waiting, I believe Butch would be gone. I also think that every game, outside LSU, is a must win for him now. If he keeps winning (high unlikely), it would not surprise me if he is coach at least till the end of the season and maybe even next year. Don't think it will happen tho. This offense is in shambles, and Currie will have no choice but trot out the next up-and-comer to the podium.

I'm about to go eat wings with my brothers at what was supposed to be our watching of the Butch Jones is fired press conference. Oh well. Let's all go outside and play for a couple of hours so that I don't have to catch up too much.

If true, and frankly it’s probably not, it’s also possibly an actionable lawsuit for interference with a business transaction that could come with significant penalties. In general you can’t be involved in brokering a deal for a party while also trying to broker the same deal for yourself that if accepted would harm the other party. Now of course this is all fact intensive, and we have none, but there is a potential legal problem with doing what is being alleged. The remedy could be things like cancelling the contract you negotiated for yourself and all sorts of things to try to repair the other party who was harmed.

It’s an admittedly silly exercise to even discuss this possibility based on rumors and unknowns, but it’s as close to reality as everything else being discussed here.

His ego is being fed by a lot more than cash.

It's actually good news if Butch isn't fired today. There are still a couple of key details to be worked out before Gruden can make a final decision. Tomorrow should be a very interesting day.
