I just see a bunch of other 2012 Butch Jones's. None of those little guys are SEC quality hc, but let's go ahead and get it over with. First, a little guy will be named coach and then everyone will begin hyping up how awesome he will be. Like the next Tom Herman, etc. We'll close at about 23rd in recruiting and next year's record will be 7-5. It's ok, it's year 0, right. Then we get another recruiting class around the 15 to 19th range. Year two is where the rubber meets the road. Here we'll either make the big step up to 9-10 wins or stay about the same. If we stay the same, we're stuck in another decade of football hell.

Just my opinion, and i'll admit myself that it sucks, but what we are dealing with is very wealthy people that didnt get that way by being loose with their money.

They will let it play out until he either makes a bowl or is eliminated from bowl eligibility.

Buyout reduces every game played. If he makes a bowl, they make money off of it, then let him go. If he doesnt make a bowl, buyout is reduced even more.

All at the expense of the players, fans, and possibly future recruits... That is what folks are upset with at this point.

Pretty sure the buyout is set for the whole season, so that first part isn't right. If I remember right it does drop by missing a bowl though, so maybe that's what they're shooting for. I'm sure they'll lose more money in ticket/concession/merchandise by doing that though. Also that eliminates the chance of a new coach getting to spend some extra time with the team during bowl practices.

There's really no way to justify keeping him around for another game, financially or otherwise.

Exactly what I said. Currie does what he is told

All we have heard is how much different everything will be under Currie.

Well, to quote Jakob Dylan: the only difference that I see, is that it's exactly the same as it used to be.

Hutch7 is posting on TOS this morning. Basically says:

Gruden to the Vols doesn't look good right now.

Poster: why?

Haslems are heavily involved.

Poster: I thought Haslems wanted him?

Hutch: they do if you get what I mean

Implying Gruden to the Browns

Im just saying that they dont give a rats ass about what the fans think or the little bit of money they are going to lose on some coke and popcorn this season. They know it has to be done but will only do it when it has padded their pockets to the max. They know people are pissed and about to jump but after a new coach is hired people will be back in wanting to find out what the new guy has got. Same ole cycle. It dont even matter if its a big name or not. People will be back in with anybody but Jones and they know this. That will never change unless Neyland is almost empty consistently.

So Peyton has been recruiting Gruden to the Browns for the Haslems. Will not end well if even remotely true.

I wouldn't get that bent out of shape. Gruden may just rather coach in the NFL. Gruden going to another college team would be the big disaster.

On the bright side if there is one, whoever the new coach is he may have some LBs to work with finally. If DKjr can get healthy then he, Bituli, and Sapp could be pretty darn good.

Bama loses two starters at LB in their first game. Don't miss a beat. That is our problem with attrition and lack of development which is on butch. No depth at critical spots.

I'm not as sure about that this time. I've bled orange since I was a young kid, spent a lot of hard earned money on Tennessee football, invested an unmeasurable amount of time into this football program, so on and so forth. I'll always be a Tennessee fan, but if they hire some Wikipedia special again I'll be over it from a time and money standpoint. I think a lot of people will be that way. At least I hope so.

On this day in 2012... It just never ends...

Freak, why is there an advertisement on the side of my page for a University of AL CC from AL credit union saying "Roll TAWD show your pride"! WTF? Right after the game too!

It's been rumored that Peyton has been working with the Browns. Implications are that he may be the general manager of the Browns. If that's the case, he may very well be recruiting him to the Browns.

Looks like CBJ is going to hang around and not resign. Even Dooley wasn't heckled on an aerial banner and cupcakes. Butch and Barb have probably talked it over and decided to keep their eye on the prize-- which obviously wasn't an SECE championship.

His whole demeanor has changed. He hasn't been nearly as upset as he used to get-- on the sideline or post-game. Even Barb's stopped the chip dip.

I know hind site is 20/20 but Butch should have never been hired. He was in no way qualified to be the coach at the University of Tennessee.
