Gruden rumors have been crazy all week. If your so inclined, go to VolQuest and you will see all week I have indicated I felt it was less than a 5% chance him becoming our coach. I've never indicated to anyone I thought we would get it done, in 2012 or this year. I have always felt he was not a college coach.

He was not offered a deal in 2012. He gave boosters a list of demands which they carried to others. Discussions among all of them was demands could not be met (money was okay, it was the control things he demanded). At some point, some boosters convinced Hart to try to discuss the control issues with Gruden and see if they could resolve. When Hart called him to go and discuss those, Gruden said don't bother to come. That was the end of it. No offer was ever extended.

Not sure I said they would not go the Gruden route a week ago. I may have said something like I didn't believe Gruden would ever be coach here. I've been consistent with that..

If you can locate a link to where I said something different I will certainly apologize.

I wanted Patterson when Kiffy got hired. Lord how much better the last several years could have been!

I have been a fan of Patterson and the Frogs for awhile. If he has a bad year its corrected and he is back to winning the next. I think he is A Shula he could take his players and beat yours and yours and beat his. Real football coach

we are just bad. We have so bad coaches and we kids playing that have not been developed very well. Neither of our QBs are close to being SEC level QBs that should be starting. Several OL same thing. WRs are lost most of the time (did you notice trick play today?)

they are not tanking. Kids played hard today and gave effort. We just are not very good.

I saw what can only be described as a lack of effort and/or complete misunderstanding of said “trick” play. I’ve never seen a flea flicker with zero routes run. It’s just hard to wrap my head around these boys being this bad. Butch has had good recruiting results. I say this as one who doesn’t put much stock in star ratings, but all the evaluations have to count for something, right? Butch must truly be the best used car salesman ever. You said yourself he wants out as badly as everyone wants him out. These boys may not be anything close to their recruiting ratings, but I’m not connecting the dots on how Butch & Co could make them this bad unless they’re just tanking to get the buyout.

I can only hope that the powers that be have a master plan and are waiting for some unkown reason to get rid of Butch. This is without a doubt one of the worst coached gameday Tennessee Football teams I have ever seen and I have been a VOL fan all of my life and I am 57 years old.

The Gruden deal rumor is comple BS. Sorry to say this, but MIT and others have either received bad information or they’re completely full of crap. I don’t know if Gruden was offered the job and turned it down, or if he was even approached, but I can assure you from the highest source that he’s not taking the job. This is not coming from inside the athletic dept or from a powerful booster. It’s coming straight from JG’s camp. You guys are being taken for a ride.

I don't understand the fascination with tee. Isn't his offense with a heisman hopeful qb getting shutout by Notre dame and has been pretty bad all year?

I'm not fascinated with Tee but just thinking a combo of Coach Cut with Tee in waiting ( and learning) could be better than Frost, Fleck, etc

If we don't get Gruden, then I expect the next tier of coaches to avoid this job like the plague it has become. Currie will have to go the Butch 2.0 route, and his career will basically be over and we'll be stuck in this rut at least another 5 years.

I want Gruden as bad as the next guy. But, he is not the only guy that can turn things around. If things break down between now, and G-day. I’d bet Kelly would listen. He could win big here.

If you really were on the know them you would know talks have been going on way more than before the season started. What do you know about Jones wanting out last year?
