I’d like a answer to this as well. You make a fair point. Good perspective

I think the “negotiations” went more like.

Currie: I wonder if Gruden could be hired as a college coach.
Unknown: I talked to him last week. Maybe for the right $, control, and situation he would.
Boosters: How much? We need a big time hire!
Currie: What if a college offered 7 million pluss full control, 5 million for staff?
Unknown: I don’t know? That’s a good question. I’ll ask him next time I run into him.

Some time later
Unknown: He said he could make more than that in the NFL. If a college wants him they are going to have to spend NFL money for him.
Currie: Ok... What if that college upped its offer to 8 per year with bonuses that would make him highest paid coach in USA, full control, and whatever money he needed for staff.
Unknown: good question. I’ll ask next time I see him.

Some time later
Unknown: He said yea he would jump all over that offer. If the right college had an opening.
Currie: Thanks! I’ll be calling in a couple weeks.

my response was to the 5 million per year he wanted in 2012. Your now quoting numbers discussed this year

AND you said repeatedly that Gruden was never offered in 2012 and less than a week ago that UT would not go the Gruden route based upon sources.

Now tonight you blew up the thread and said "no-go" on Gruden deal and said he was in fact offered in 2012...... so interesting your flip flop.

I hope. This is more realistic. This is kinda like I've been saying no deals can be done while we have a HC.

Good post.
