However if UT went hard after Gruden and there was a rejection then some natl sports people who have run the story - they dont need permission from UT to run the story!!!!!

Story is bigger than local sports guys who did not have permission to release the story especially considering we still have an ish coach.

I still keep hearing national media saying that the decision on Butch is still up in air, so I am done. We just need to have the AD come out and say that competing for championships is not something we are interested in anymore and we are considering moving to the AAC conference.

Actually at this point hiring Houston Nutt seems like a pipe dream.

Scott Frost would not be a “top tier” hire. It would be Butch esq.

If this is their 2nd choice they obviously do not care about being upper echelon.

It's so easy to say this. If they went after Gruden and offered Saban money, then they went for it. Everyone has $ now. Good coaches at high level schools are stable and comfortable, and that's what they want.

Based on Larry's message what did the AD do wrong? They can't force the man to coach. He hasn't in 10 years. It seems like he doesn't want to.

Because that is what our sources communicated... I haven't been told the number of coaches we contacted and how many were not interested and how many were. Was stated specifically that he is interested... We might have gotten a dozen no's

I can tell you that I learned this morning that Gruden has said no for the second time this week and Tennessee will now move on to other candidates. I would look for Scott Frost as the leading candidate

Has to many friendships at Tennessee and doesn't want to risk losing them. Bottom line, IMO, he has no desire to coach in college. We made him a great offer is what I understand. Saban type offer

I may be too far in this rabbit hole, I don’t know. But the message JAV and LWS have posted today just doesn’t make any sense. And furthermore, Frost?? That’s laughable. He’s a good 3rd, 4th or 5th choice. If he’d said Kelly, I’d be more inclined to believe him. I just think the old sources aren’t working with this new AD.
