@VOLnugs @ClowESPN reported on 3HL (104.5) the zone. That he does not think the powers to be want to let Butch go during the season.

On Twitter... My no means do I believe it. Per senior espn exec... Gruden has accepted UT job. Will finish out MNF season... Lol... One can dream!

As I have said before, I don't have contacts or sources but I definitely understand negotiations and the art of the deal.

I said last night and will repeat tonight that if JG and UT were really that close on a deal, then they would get a deal done.

If a deal doesn't happen then the parties were really never even on the same page. If the parties were truly close then they would hammer out a deal which could include clinched fists, saber rattling and the old "we are going to walk" tactic.

These types of negotiations are not about winners and losers, it is about benefit to both parties.

I have no inside source but I am hopeful that we can land Gruden or a coach of similar ilk.

Soon.

I certainly trust your experience Patrick.... and know you want Gruden as bad as any do

And the pupil has become the teacher....

some stuff is hard to comprehend thru a message board ... especially if you don't speak the language.

when somebody finally figured out that i was going thru the manage attachments button instead of posting in the regular text box, then it all made sense to me about the img box thingys.

As with every other thread on here I heard something from someone who knows someone. In my case, a doctor who was a trainer at UT in the 90's. Back when we were good. He of course knows some important people on the hill and here is what he says:
Currie knows everyone wants Gruden, including him. But we have a coach...for now. So there hasn't been one single conversation with Gruden or anyone else about the UT coaching vacancy because there is no UT coaching vacancy. With that said, his friends who are way more important than my friends believe Currie will offer everything including his first born to make Gruden the next coach of the TN Volunteers. If Gruden is not the coach then it's because he doesn't want to be and not because he wasn't approached. They believe Chip Kelly will be approached in the event of a Gruden decline. After that who knows. But the supporters with way more money and influence than any of us, or maybe just me, say there will be a big name n Knoxville soon. But as for now, there has been absolutely no offers, discussions, or anything other than who might be the interim if Butch gets fired before season's end. As usual, this is all third party information and what else would you expect? Sorry if it's not any ground breaking news, but it's likely something closely resembling the truth. If there is such a thing anymore.

Long time lurker. I went through the first Gruden mania on here in 2012. I completely bought in. I remember driving down to Atlanta a night or two before Thanksgiving to visit family and some of these same folks on here now said their sources were saying deal is done. I was so excited I told all of my in-laws (all UGA fans) when we arrived. Imagine my disappointment a few weeks later when Lyle Butch Jones was announced as head coach.

While I'm more cautious this time around, the ride was half the fun the first time and let's hope this time we get it right.

Soon.
