Really? He give a reason why?

He said Smart got used to the amount of control Saban has at Alabama and Georgia isn't willing to go to that level - at least not yet.

Couple of things stood out: all Alabama football players have assigned parking spots in a prime position near the football complex. Basically so they never get parking tickets while on campus. He also said Saban is in such a good spot with the board of regents for the entire state that he sets the academic calendar at Alabama to avoid any conflicts of Midterms and Finals with major games. It's wild.

Hubbs didn't mention this but Saban got the entire UAB football program shut down for a year because they were starting to build a respectable program and would have been in a good position to steal some attention and Regent money from Alabama's program.

Source just relayed to me the beginning of the conversation between Currie and Gruden:

Currie: “Pleased to meet you Jon, I’m John.”
Gruden: “your name’s Jon also? That’s wild man.”
Currie: “well, John with an h. what’s your middle name?”
Gruden: “David”
Currie: “my middle name is David!”
Gruden: “you just blew my mind man.”
Currie: “how bout you come coach at TN for 7.5 mil?”
Gruden: “I can’t say no to you John. We’re like brothers except you have an h in your name and I don’t.”
Currie: “I’ll remove the H to sweeten the deal.”
Gruden: “I’m in. Where do I sign?”

Jon D. Currie and Jon D. Gruden have reached an agreement for Gruden to be the next head coach at the University of TN according to my sources. Tifwiw

That's really disgraceful if true. Wasn't sure I could dislike Saban any more than I already did, but that would do it.

If this hire goes south, I may just have to be a casual fan.

August: “so, how’s Tennessee going to look this year?”
Sept - Jan 2: watch some games

Jan 3 - July 31: not one crap to give

Probably better off

Sounds like he better get used to that if he wants to be head football coach at any major program not named Bama.

Wanted to ask this here as well in RF. Posted a thread in FF but know you guys well and wanted to ask because a lot of you guys don't go in there.

Who is going? Also, did you sell your tickets to Bama or UT fans or give them away or just keeping them but not going? First away SEC game and yes, we got them before the season started. We will be there wearing orange. Just wondering what others who had for tickets were doing considering the circumstances of this season. How are UT fans typically treated in Tuscaloosa? Any suggestions for our first trip are appreciated.

I’ve been down there 5 times for games and have always been treated well. If at all possible, coming from west of town is way better traffic wise than coming through Birmingham. We’ve parked at the mall and also at the high school (maybe middle school) with good results from both.

I had tickets from before the season and sold them on Stubhub last week. My leave never got approved and wasn’t going to spend a sick day to watch a team/coach that may or may not show up.

He had some good offenses at Georgia but he's a Georgia grad so he's jumping to Athens as soon as he got the chance. (Hubbs said today Smart is not happy there right now.)

I don't really think what he's doing at CSU is all that impressive. Didn't McElwain have that thing rolling pretty well?

Definetly not disagreeing with you but why would Smart not be happy there??? I mean year 2 and looks like he's got a straight path to the SEC Championship game? Just wondered.

Same.

If they don't care then neither do I.

That being said, Kelly or Frost

What good would a flight tracker do? Currie probably hitchhiked with some migrant workers to stay off grid.

Haha in the Gruden thread in the FF they were acting like he was driving a 1972 Gremlin and using gas station fax machines to send documents to remain covert.....

I'm not kidding. The opposite of blue font.

Thanks. Staying in Hoover so will be coming that way and bought a parking pass. Wondering how early we should try to get there for the 3:30 game so hopefully won't have to fight traffic much. Any ideas about when we should leave our hotel in Hoover to head down. Thank you for responding as well.

Rather have Sarge coach over Bobo.

No more UGA rejects

Boom! #SargeforCoach

I have done pretty well in the Mississippi Youth Football Association. I have offensive and defensive experience. Ran a pro set offense with a lot of misdirection. And played a lot of man coverage on defense. I have also never met a blitz that I don’t like.
