There are a few Very Big Things for UT: commitment to compliance, academic excellence and stability. UT has been tolerant of CBJ and hoping to avoid making a change because he checks those three boxes. Candidates that do not are going to meet opposition.

I am a little scared of Mullen for this reason and obviously Kelly. Give me Fuente and let's roll

IDT it excludes Mullen, per se, but I'd be willing to bet Petrino, Leach and Kiffin aren't going to be considered a good fit.

Mullen got hit with probation and scholarship reductions for payments to players. It doesn't get much more anti-compliance than that. I'm sure he'll argue it was a rogue booster so maybe that's enough to ease their concerns.

Guys don't make too much of Larry's post about us only talking to JG at this point.
Remember he is not coaching so its ethical for us to talk to him. With Chip Kelly likely not on our list due to prior compliance issues (also as per Larry and other sources), there really arent any other coaches we would be interested in that are out of coaching right now. Coaches currently under contract with other schools or NFL teams are off limits during the season for direct contact as is their agents. Back channeling does go on through intermediaries but that would be very closely guarded and really not subject to message board fodder. There is no doubt we are making a play for JG, and will do so in a big way at the appropriate time. The question is whether he wants back into coaching at the college level. It appears unlikely but one never knows for sure.
Larry says 5%. I would say its a little better than that, but nowhere near 50/50.
As fans lets show some class to Coach Jones. He gave his all and did get the program back on solid ground. I feel for the man and really really wish he could have gotten it done.

Yeah, they'll vet him. He's a sitting P5 coach with SEC experience at multiple schools and a good offensive mind, so they'll see where it shakes out.

Kelly should get a looong look at a minimum. I'd take him over any other available option in a heartbeat (yes, definitely over Gruden). To me, he is the only sure fire lock to be successful and damn near immediately.

Watch, UT settles... UF takes a risk and hires Kelly... the rest is history.

Brohm was 30-10 at Western Michigan and is likely going to get Purdue 7 to 9 wins this year.

I'm definitely not opposed to hiring him, but like Frost, there's a chance his heart pulls him back to his alma mater.

Well, several ways to take this obviously we don’t know. One thing to keep in mind, Big Al has been very vocal about getting Tee back to UT as HBC.

I like Brohm a lot but only if we swing and miss on bigger names. What is his Alma mater?
